We have a Graphtec plotter and we need drawing pens. I have had little to no luck with my vendors...anyone know where I can get these?

Hi Jane, I just bought my second Graphtec plotter since opening my business in 1995. The old one was 24" and starting to have issues so I thought I'd go ahead and get a new one. The plotter pens are the exact same ones from my old plotter! It also uses the same exact blade. I bought my new 30" Graphtec from R&J Sign Supply in St. Louis, MO and they have the plotter pens too. Their toll free number is 800-234-7446. Tell them I sent you. I actually worked for them for 2 years before starting my business. Great bunch of folks. Check out their website: rjsign.com for ordering online.

I don't know if it's too late, Jane, but you can drill out the center of an old plotter pen, and epoxy a Bic pen into it. Then you just change refills.
It's much cheaper than those plotter pens.

As Dale & Brent suggests I take regular felt tips and run strips of vinyl around them until they will fit in the holder here,..all you have to do is be sure they touch the paper when the pen is in the down position and do not when it is up,..the plotters are stupid machines they have no clue what kind of pen is in the holder and draw just as well with a cheapo dollar tree marker you get a doz for a dollar as they do with the expensive pens made to use in them,..it just takes a little tinkerin' with the strips of vinyl to get the marker barrel to the right size.

I have a piece of clear fuel line with a slit up the side and I wrap it around a Sharpie and it fits right in. Been working for many years. Sometimes I put a pencil in.
