Thought i was about time to introduce myself. My name is Teddy and I'm from Denmark, I have an Journeyman certificate as an signpainter but, I newer used it thoug.
After finishing my apprenticeship I was fed up with doing signs, so instead I got an degree in social work, and right now I'm working at an homeless shelter as an social educator.
But over the years I have begun to find social work boring, I even tried working in different institutions, still boring(and to top it up I got punched in the face last monday). But some time back i started pinstriping as an hobby, which lead med to become interested in handlettering guilding and the old sign stuff which I never really learned as an apprentice.
When I got my traning we cut vinyl by hand, using pouncepatterns, and the shop I worked at got their first plotter the last year of my apprenticeship(Apprenticeship is 3,5 years in DK), beside the vinyl work I was also trained in screenprinting.
I recently did a backlit sign for a friend starting and sandwich shop, and it was great fun(much more fun than getting punched in the face) so now I'm trying to start an part time sign business.
So I hope to get some pointers from all of you when I need them, I all ready learned a lot from lurking around here for a while.

Welcome to the best source for truth in signs from people here who care to keep the fine art going. I find new people to the trade sometimes have very insightful and enjoyable ideas which make us oldsters rethink about all our hardened ways. I personally have truly enjoyed being a small part of this community and hope you can as well and to contribute some fresh ideas. It is the great thing about Letterville to simply be able to openly share and care enough to express our own individualities. Show us some stuff. We might seem like vultures with some of our opinions, but we really are not. New perspectives are the things we all yearn for.
