After almost two years of meetings, planning, drawing and then building, the last of the MultiCam signs were put in place yesterday afternoon. It was a quiet celebration for me as I went from room to room and installed the appropriate signs. As I went from area to area it made me smile. What I saw was even better than I had imagines so long ago.
For these directory signs we had considered many options... from plain to fancy. After much deliberation we decided on a professional (yet slightly themed) look, that was consistent through the office. The signs were installed over the doors as some of the office doors were too close together to do otherwise.
On one of the signs I simply had to deviate from the norm. A star fish somehow slithered out of the boardroom and was draped over the sign - a small clue as to the visual treat behind the double doors.
While there will undoubtably be more signs and displays to come in the future, this officially brings the project to an end.
The last cheque for the balance owing was deposited to our account today too!
I love it when a plan comes together!

Beautiful work Dan. I enjoyed seeing the process very much. I did have a question. Are you making braille signs for the office or does someone else make those? If you did make them would they have to be toned down or could you still make a cool sign that incorporates the braille? Just wondering. Thanks for all of your post through out the years. They really are a treat to read and see. Your positive attitude has made my day countless times.

Way to go Dan! What's next on your schedule? I'm anxious to see what you have lined up to keep the creative juices flowing! It's kind of like waiting to see a movie soon to be released and getting to see the preview trailer to build the excitement.
Sign-cerely curious! Steve

In Canada we don't have to put braille on the signs... so that isn't a worry.
As for what is next... We have both short term (smaller) and long term projects on the drawing board. All are imaginative and fun.
The longest term project on our drawing board is an entire town. My clients literally bought the downtown core (12 commercial properties) of a small town and want to transform it into a quality tourist destination. The first building is now built and is fabulous. It will all look turn of the century with tons of detail. The plans are now done to turn this building into a restaurant. We get to do the dimensional signs and some of the interior components starting right after Christmas.
Another component of that project is a separate five acre parcel on the waterfront. I am currently working on 30 concept drawings for the features, street signs, buildings, murals, children's playgrounds, sculptures and other details. It will be steampunk/turn of the century, historical - like nothing else out there. Here's a little teaser...
First the restaurant sign...
Then one of the street signs for the wharf project
I can hardly wait to see it all come to life. It will be a whole lot more fun that working.

Dan the hint of what's to come is the kind of touch that set the average apart from the creative. Don't you wish there was a way to slip a starfish into the visitors brief case to be found later?

Keep them coming Dan, it all just keeps getting better. What a treat to attend your seminar in Atlantic City. You have a special gift as a speaker, with the ability to get across every thought. It seemed that you could read our minds and would cover questions as we thought of them. You may not realize it, but you are the best gift to all of us, not just Christmas, but all year long. Bill
