I think that she may win the case. I didn't see her company anywhere.

Alicia, This county is THE most restrictive place I know.
I did a sign there once (and never will again). I had to pay a fee for blocking the sidewalk with my ladder, set up cones, and be done by 5:00 pm. I'm not kidding.
The final blow came when I had to put Alrlington County on my insurance rider so that if the sign falls during a storm, and does damage to person or property, They can make a claim on my insurance.
This county Gov't is out of control...
Had a tree guy put his bandit signs on thier poles. Fined him $75 bucks for each violation. He put up 100 signs..... I could go on. She's toast. M

Orlando is worse and Orange county except for the ladder bit
they also would be fining for that mural because it relates to the business ..also think this is crazy why Government does not want Americans making money with American products for American business
Also inspectors pick and choose which business to pick on and how much advertising your allowed to have be on a truck parked outside your business or on your wall, window, main sign like Government knows how much advertising is needed for each business.
I've lost huge numbers of customers because of Government garbage dumb laws.

If there is no advertising names on it. It's public art, she can win it.

My mind wanders. And that's not a good thing, 'cause it's too small to be out there alone. Posts: 3129 | From: Tooele, UT | Registered: Mar 2005

Good, besides the fact they're butt ugly litter the nail heads that get left behind turn the pole into a cheese grater for the power company linemen who have to climb them.

I just spearheaded a group of sign folks and small business people to fight for change in the Maui sign ordinance... it was a 3 month battle, and a few smaller skirmishes were won along the way, based on jointly defined amendments I wrote for the ragtag group of us....
...but in the end, even the Chamber of Commerce became interested in other things & I went on alone to finish the fight at the 11th hour...
...right before the final vote I got an amendment put on the proposed ordinance for "commercial messages not to exceed 50% of window space" and this is allowable without permits. I have video of my effective testimony & the unanimous approval that followed. Will post to youtube someday.
The wording was as shown above, specifically to not exclude mural style graphics from covering 100% of windows. There had been a rash of citations for window signs & decorations, so that was a hot topic this fall. Wall signs or murals have yet to become popular around here. (I'll see what I can do)
Prior to this, allowable business signs sizes were defined between 24 and 64 sq. ft. based on building frontage & setback. Permits required. No other commercial messages were allowed... so permit-free window sign privileges was a huge win for the Maui business community!
A big win for me was just seeing Government in action & seeing how one small voice can be heard & can produce a positive outcome.
