They are brand new but don't look as good as the picture so we are going to clean them real well. I think we will use an exterior adhesion primer on everything than paint than guild, does this make sense or s there a size I could use right on the copper?
Thanks in advance. JAKE

According to Gold Leaf Techniques book, all you need is a primer, I found this bit of info about Rolco primer.
"ROLCO’S BURNISH/SEALERS are manufactured utilizing premier resins exhibiting excellent adhesion and moisture resistance. The pigments utilized are recommended for gilding applications due to their lasting performance and color retention. The BURNISH/SEALERS are excellent for use on exterior items such as weather vanes and caducei made of copper, bronze, steel or iron."
