It is hard to believe we are almost 5 months through 2010 already. Time flies when we are having fun! Here in Yarrow I've crammed in a bunch of projects for my personal CHALLENGE 2010. My goal at the start of the year was to accomplish one 3D project for myself each and every month of 2010. It sounds like a lot, but the fact is it really hasn't been that hard. By purposely using a few spare minutes at a time to work on these projects as I am able it has allowed me to accomplish an amazing body of work already this year. I keep the project of the day in my busiest working path. Once or twice each day instead of hurrying by I stop what I'm doing to squeeze in a little time.
This past week I was able to complete my seventh 3D sign for our display. Its a project I started last year. My intent was to do two of these Giggle Ridge logos. I routed two files at the time (one for up at the golf and the other for my display) but only completed one - leaving the other bits and pieces to gather dust in the corner until recently. I decided that rather than make up a flat temporary sign for the parade float we are making I would do a full blown 3D version instead and in the process achieve my goal of making anther piece for the challenge. For those interested I've posted a step by step on the EnRoute Journal I am writing... www.enrouteadventures.blogspot.com
A while back I got a good start on my eighth CHALLENGE 2010 project and this evening I managed to squeeze in a few minutes on the design and routing file for the ninth. It is going to be a LOT of fun!
How's your CHALLENGE 2010 project(s) coming along??

It's been a busy 5 months for sure. I've got six large (for me) projects done myself and a few small also. I have one (the tiki) in the works and started another today, and I picked up a couple of projects at last weeks home show. most of these have been new territory for me and have helped me become a little more creative lately and excited about signs and art again.

I was over on Vancouver Island last week and dropped in at Galaxy Graphics. I saw Lawrence's sign ( and other pieces he had done) in person. I got to hold it and see it up close. The photograph doesn't do it justice. It's a small piece (16" x 16") ?and the workmanship is brilliant.
Lawrence does some pretty amazing work. I have no doubt we'll be hearing a lot more from him in the future.
Keep it up Lawrence and show us more!

Do simple vignettes for ourselves count? I puttered around with some ladders yesterday.
This is a simple unit with 'hand made pickets' for shelving made out of old palette wood. Nothing is nailed down so it's a breeze to build and dismount.
The surprise feature is a light installed at the top of the ladder.
Sadly my pics aren't the best quality this round. I need to fix what's broke in crappy computerville. FAST.

Lawrence, that is one cool sign! I immediately thought of Dan's when I saw it before you mentioned him. Nicely done! I love the fish and the real deal chain.

Another little piece for the wall in the shop. Fake wood out of foam, some rusty old Sintra, a little Magic Sculpt, letters cut on the CNC out of HDU and finished with a bronze mica powder.

Lawrence, that looks fantastic. I really like Dan's believe sign so I made one as a sample, and I got a job that's actually gonna pay some money (Rainmans Saloon) and the Harley sign is a copy of a Mike Meyers sign.

Donna, a big part of the concept for this little venture is kind of inspired by what you're doing. The plan is to use a lot of recycled materials and as many "green" products as possible.
I love what you're doing with "junk" and don't see why it can't be incorporated into sign creation as well.
