This past weekend Ray Skaines and I shared a motel room in OKC. Mark Yearwood was scheduled to be my room mate but plans changed and he had to stay in Weatherford.
Since I already had reserved a room with two beds, it was handy for Ray to stay with me since he had not made reservations.
Sunday he came up and handed me a check for half the room cost and when someone asked what the money was for I simply said, "Skaines is just paying me for being able to sleep with me."
Somehow it just didn't sound right.

Well, I don't know about all that now, TMI...
But you're not the only one Mr. Skaines rolled the wallet out for, the gentleman also purchased your CD for me as a gift...very impressed and taken back at same time, thank you very much Ray (Skaines)...now it's time to watch it and see if it's really worth the $50.00 bucks Raymond charged Ray...(all the others were $20-maybe a room discount?)
Ray Skaines and I became one this last weekend, so glad I got to meet him, not only a great talent, but a perfect gentleman...one of the GOODGUYS for sure...made being there on such a special occasion a real treat I'm glad I didn't miss...thanks Ray. Not to mention the shared love of good ol' homemade cookies, eh Ray? lolol...

Frank, the cookies hit the spot. Saturday's dinner with Joe was great too. I really enjoyed our conversation and thanks for the panel. I wish you the best and hope our paths cross again soon.
Raymond, lesson learned. Never in public hand a check to someone your staying in the motel room with.

Well I guess depending on how I word this post...we could all be in trouble, (ha ha).
For those who do not know what happened when I originally booked into the same motel as Ray and Ray (two days prior).
I landed late Wednesday and checked into my motel at 1:30 am. To my surprize, the room I was issued came with a man already inside....a total stranger (now that was embarrassing and uncomfortable!). The receptionist apologized and issued me another room, but it felt like the 'revolving' door type room, very dirty and in the alley way out back.....So at 1:35 am...I booked out. Now 'homeless in Oklahoma', I went down the road to another motel where all was clean and I felt very safe.
I'm glad Ray and Ray that your room on the upper front side was okay.

Wow, your accomodation experience was truly unfortunate. What a way to start off a Letterhead meet. Hope that didn't alter your over al experience.
Now you know Chappy isn't a very reliable source for accomodations. I think money is his major criteria. He does his best, but!

Sorry about the motel experience, Susan. I've stayed there for years and never had a problem.
Joe's right though (for a change) - money does have a factor in the decision of where to stay. For those like Crumley who have lots of money, it's difficult to understand the concept.
I'm sorry that you didn't get to experience Fred's in it's past glory. This year was very solemn compared to past history, probably because of the economy and the fact that an era was ending. Normally, the place is packed.
It was good to meet you and to finally be able to place a real person with the name and photo.

I'm pretty easy going, take most things in stride and chalk up my experences in life as very positive things...I chuckle at all that happens to me (yes, even at things like my motel dilemna)....this trip was just another GREAT ADVENTURE. The most memorable bits being the wonderful new friends I met who are now stored in my heart.
Ray and Ray, the next two meets for me are 'shared accommodations'....but I will make sure payment is done behind closed doors!!! BWWWhhaa Haaa!!!! LOL. Sorry couldn't resist!
