I have all sorts of announcements for the walldog meet in Pontiac this summer. We have a website up right now with information regarding the meet that can be found at: http://pontiacwalldogs.wordpress.com
Lastly and probably most importantly we have sent out packets to all of the project leaders and they should either have them or will be getting them soon. So who are these leaders? Here is a list of all the leaders and the subject matter for their walls: Jay Allen - Allen Candy Company Gary Anderson - Humiston Heritage Nancy Bennett - Old Pontiac News Carole Bersin - Scatterday Pop Cam Bortz - Palace of Sweets David & Susie Butler - Chatauqua Michael Clark - Farming/Threshers Steve Connor (Conman) - Firemen Tom & Kathy Durham - Rt 66 Rob Estes - Interurban streetcar Sonny Franks - Coke Triple Bernie (Gietl, Lohmeyer & Poff) - RCA Dog Judy Grossman - Chief Pontiac/Jesse Fell Dale Manor - Rodino Square Mike Meyer & Adam May - Abe Lincoln FranCisco Vargas - Old Mill/River
Also the city has decided to bundle this event with Pontiac's "Heritage Days" and the "Hang Loose" car show in a nearby park. There will be alot going on that weekend so register early so we can figure out lodging. We plan to have host homes available but if you want a motel it would be a good idea to book soon. There are links on the wordpress site to the local motels.
There is no cost for this event and meals will be provided to artists who register at least one month prior to the event.

The town is very excited already. There is alot of buzz here about this event. Also the two events piggybacked with this one are long running well established Pontiac traditions, and as far as I know they have never been together either. The town will have alot going on that weekend, and there should be all sorts of fun to be had while painting and after the brushes are put away.

We have a meeting tonight so we will probably know more tomorrow. We really have a great committee who are very excited about this. Just a word of warning...If you need a place to stay, I would HIGHLY recommend that you book early. The motels will be packed if you want to stay in a motel because they are combining several events. The high school music boosters are helping us find housing for people but that won't be available at the last minute either.

I just added info for the motels on the registration page, but if it were me I'd save my money and stay with a local family. That's the best way to really get a feel for the town. The Pontiac downtown has alot of character and there are some real interesting places to see. I think you will have more fun at this event if you try to get the entire Pontiac experience.

I'll bet that there will be alot of interesting "characters" downtown that will get caught up in the "Pontiac experience" Stay with a host family. It's fun to get to know the folks. they might know a thing or two about swingin' a brush. You already know they've got big hearts for opening their houses to complete strangers...even that "Letterhead mob". Either way, if everyone's full up, I know I can always camp out in the back of my(empty)silver Dodge next to the orange and blue van...down by the river. "Hey, what's in the brown bag, Mister?"

That's why I added the big orange van lodging option to the registration form, just in case.

An interesting twist in the direction... We have a big RV dealership in town and the city plans to approach them if we can use some of the RVs for housing. So that might be another option...you can camp in your own RV! We will keep you posted.

Dig the RV idea . . . I hate making noise coming in late and disturbing the nice people who put us up. Separate entrances or even a house with a small guest cottage or stuga works for Jody and I . . .
Jane, I'd love to know if there is any more info available on the products from the Allen Candy Co. - or if there is a source I could speak with at the museum? Or did I get as much as there is in my packet?
Let me know here - or by email . . .

Project leaders, if you would please go on the registration site too http://thewalldogs.com/pontiacsignup.html and tell us how many people in your "party", your housing preference, etc. that would help us out. We are working on a brochure with the city today and all is on schedule...this is going to be a bunch of fun. There are several things "in the works" that we can't tell you about yet, but it's looking good!! We even have one leader's sketch in already!!

Midway and Ohare are both in Chicago (100 miles) and there is a shuttle http://www.peoriacharter.com/schedules/Pontiac/pontiac-time-choice.htm that comes several times a day. Midway is MUCH easier to get in and out of and just get around in, if you have a choice. The Bloomington Airport (40 miles) is VERY nice but it cost a bit more to fly into there.
