We try to update our website once a year or so to keep things interesting. This year's makeover added our new logo with a few tweaks throug hthe site. Most of the bigger changes were throughout the workshop pages.
I hven't found any broken links in the web browsers we use here... let me know if anybody else finds any.
Thanks to Phoenix for a great job in posting the website!

I just want to add that I have always felt the logos you have used have fallen a little short of what Imagination Corporation is all about. I love the new image and I think it is absolutely perfect for you!

That's great, I was just linking your website in a mail I sent to a guy, and noticed all the changes, that didn't take you long from talking last week.

I pay royalties by the square inch Raymond... the resolution on my screen is set high so your picture is REALLY tiny.
The corresponding royalty check is in the mail from Yarrow...

Can I give one piece of advice Dan? Next time use HTML text on the site. You are really doing yourself a disservice by not having any actual readable HTML content. The meta alone is not going to cut. I realize you may not get business through the web - but there's no reason why you couldn't get business through the web - especially since your work is not region-specific.
Looks like you also designed for 800 pixels wide. Nowadays, 1024 is pretty much standard. It give you a little more room to work with.
As always, your work, work ethic and philosophy is an inspiration to all of us. Nice article in SC this month too--

Thanks for the advice Dan. I was wondering if the size had changed on the web pages as a standard. I'll certainly increase the size a little next time and make good use of that real estate.
As far as using html text... the jury is still out for I like my funky non-standard fonts and the way they wrap around the picures. I think the design of our sites as artists should reflect the art we produce... and I do not want my site to look standard or run of the mill in any way just as our work doesn't fit into that category.
Even so I'm listening in Yarrow...

Dan's site uses graphics for his text. Search engines can't read graphics - therefore, his site has limited chance of ranking under terms like, 'theme park graphics' - because the search engines can't read those terms in the content of the site. The META which Dan has IS readable - but search engines want to see META correlate to content - and since they can't read any of the content (since it's graphics) it hampers the chance of high ranking. They also want to see how the META relates to the page title - and at least there you have the terms 'theme park design and construction' - so that is good.
The reality is that since it's such an extremely niche market, it would be easy to get high rankings on a lot terms specific to your market. On the flip side you may not want that much exposure either. My own sites generate, on average 5 leads per day. Its' not easy keeping up with them (I'm not complaining, it's just something you need to be prepared for).
Dan - I understand what you're saying about the design reflecting the artist. I still think you can pull that off using HTML. Hopefully the folks who's sites we've designed would agree (at least I hope they would! lol). Striking a balance is tough. Also keep in mind you can still spec some fonts for HTML text - it need not be all Helvetica or Arial.
All good stuff Dan - And kudos on another great SC article -

Sorry...but I CHARGE by the photo.
But I'm sure we can work something out. Whatever the amount, it would probably just be a drop in the bucket for a big spender like you who has these million dollar projects just falling out of your sleeve.

Another question for Dan A. Is it possible to have html hidden in your website - for example printed information in the same colour as your background in order to have the HTML present for the search engines?

No Kelly that's called a Blackhat technique and if caught you will get banned from those search engines.

So, could you just have a sub-page up that has a couple of actual paragraphs about your business, using all the words you want for the search engines, but not have a button to that page?

Bec, you could but then that "fake" page gets indexed and not the page you want people to see.
I'm sure Dan or Joe can correct me if I'm wrong, as I haven't kept up on what's acceptable practice as far as search engine indexing goes, but when building a site layout, you can place a graphical version in a layer, write up a text content version and place that within another layer, then set the layer order so the graphical version is on top, hiding the text version. Users will see the text version as the graphical one is loading and search engines can index the text content.
