This may be a long shot, but just maybe the description will ring a bell with someone.
The painting I'm looking for is that of a man on a white horse, both of which are shackled to the ground with what appears to be metal "wire" and stakes. The rider is seen reaching in desperation towards the sky to a faint image of an older man who is also on a horse.
We have an old poster of this, and would like to get a new one, but we cannot make out the artist's name, it is dated 1972. Tried the google search, but gave up after 2 hours of searching.

This post drove me crazy. I used to have that poster on my wall. I knew it was called "Restrictions" but it took me about an hour to track it down.
Finally I got it. The artist is John Pitre. Here's his website.
