I have been using OneShot Metallic Brass for my gold accents and just whenever I need metallic gold. I am looking for some advice on a brighter alternative more like gold leaf sort of shine in a metallic gold. I know there is no substitute for real gold but what are you using that comes close?
Thanks for your help. TJ

You might try "Golden's" heavy bodied acrylics. I just went to look for my tube of gold and it seems to be missing. I think I know where it is... Oh Jake...

I absolutely LOVE Kemp's. It's the best I've found. (when I can find it) It's brighter and more opaque than 1S. Ronan makes some really good ones too, I believe they are called Aqua Leaf. A good variety of colors, nice opacity, easy to use. Love....Jill

if your spraying it I would go for the automotive paints too... the oneshot and enamel stuff seems to tarnish or dull out quickly

If you don't have a great deal to do, you can get aerosol touch up paints from an auto supply place. They have a wide selection of colours. The paints get their sparkle from Mica Powders which will not tarnish. You can tell them by the pearl powders suspended in the carrier when looking closely at the paint. The paints that use actual metal powders in them seem to tarnish or darken quickly, although clear will delay that I don't think it will completely stop it. I used Krylon "18K Gold Plate" which claims to be Interior/Exterior - it was killer for about a week before it started to turn real ugly.

I've never had to clear Kemps. I just touch it up every couple-three years if need be. It rarely needs it. Love....Jill

HOK Lettering and Striping urethane enamels has 2 metallic golds that you can brush, airbrush or spray which I like. I use it catalyzed to stripe semis and it does not need a clear coat. I have seen it hold up on a semi for 10 years, so it ought to hold up well for you.
