Just wondering how many of you out there ride motorcycles? Just getting back to riding after about 10 years of not riding on a regular basis. Surprising thing is that it was my wife's desire to learn to ride that got me riding again.
Maybe there should be a Letterville Bike Rally/Meet.

We have a couple of dirt bikes, but I am getting back to street riding this year. I bought a 1971 BMW R/75 5 last January on Craigs List. It had not ran for 8 years. After 15 minutes work we got her fired up, I am replacing cables and giving her a tune-up and will be riding as soon as the Spring Slop is dried up. I'm currently looking for a sidecar to put on the bike for small deliveries etc. she should get better mileage than the F250 crew cab.

Well, I have an 02 Honda Shadow ACE, but as far as riding, I never really seem to have time. I did get my wife an 05 Rebel 250, but I have to extend the pegs so she would ride more.
I think I'm going to make more me time this year.

i haven't ridden a bike much in 40 years since i learned to ride on an old ex British Army Indian.
Got a soft spot for those old machines and when a mate brought one of these I'm hooked again. Of course it's now made in China! They got the plans and tooling from the Russians who scored the BMW Plant at the end of WWII. But at $8,000 landed in OZ it's built like a brick outhouse, runs like a dream.
4-seater too! Or room for my ladder, paint and brush box!
Edited to note: That spare tire is folded back to show 4th seat (child size!). The Side car seat folds down too, so you end up with a clean machine.

This is an older pic, since then I replaced the seat with a Corbin gunfighter, which has a very cool "trunk box" arrangement with a hinged lid. I also had to replace the original fiberglass tank in this photo, with a steel tank - after thirty years of being perfectly sound, the ethanol in modern gasoline softened the resin and ruined it, along with a really nice paintjob (yet another thank-you note I'm due to write to the generous and beneficent public servants in the EPA ).
I'll ride it later today - its sunny and approaching 70 today.

Hay Cam do you belong to the British Irons? Conn. has a chapter. I and my wife have 1100 Shadows Honda's. I just sold my 73 Triumph Tiger with side car. We also have various dirt bikes and on off road bikes. I try to have a bike for everyone in the family, It wouldn't be fair if we didn't all have our own.

Wow, Cam, I haven't seen too many Nortons in quite a while; what a treat! I was married to a Harley mechanic and enthusiast for 11 years. I LOVE bikes, especially Harley's. Well, my son has inherited a Harley 47 Knucklehead with a German sidecar, and his brother and he are supposed to split the ownership of the other bikes his dad owned before he passed away four years ago: a newer Harley Knucklehead, and an old 30's Vinent, as the 39 Indian belongs to his older brother.
We used to go to all the antique swap meets and sometimes ride from North Carolina in the hills back to south Florida through Daytona, non-stop. My hubby complimented me on how long I could stay on the bike without having to stop all the time like the other guy's chicks at the bathrooms. We probably stopped four times in all he states down the coast as time really flies when you're riding. I never went to the poker runs since they drank too much from bar to bar and I felt I cherished life a little too much for that; but we did go to hillclimbs and there is a fantastic antique bike meet in Davenport, IA every year on Labor Day weekend. It's a family affair and it's nationaly and international; what fun and the weather is always beautiful. There is a dinner and camping galore. Try it sometime if you are a diehard bike enthusiast and appreciate the history of bikes. Also in Westerville, OHio there's an awesome bike museum too.
I didn't care much about stopping as I like long rides. It's a blast as long as it's not near a lot of wild in city driving, stop and go, etc. IN the open country it's a lot more fun, of course wit the wind on your face and hair.

Just yesterday, almost 200 miles on my Honda Shadow Spirit 750. I met a group in West Sacramento, 16 bikes, 19 people. We road along the narrow Delta Roads where the Sacramento River flows. We crossed a couple of "steel bridges" and even crossed waterways on 2 seperate Ferry's. You ride your bike onto the Ferry and stay seated as you are taken to other side. We ended up in the town of Rio Vista where we had lunch at Foster's Bighorn. it's a somewhat famous bar that has well over a hundred animal heads on their walls. The biggest, an Elephant head, many deer/elk/moose, a Giraffe, a Walrus, and many smallish "whole animals as well. most of the game was shot be one guy. Some of this stuff is over 50 years old. Besides Rio Vista we went thru a few other small towns as well,...what a great ride. Last year we (9 of us) went to Las Vegas on a 4 night/5 day trip that brought us back thru Yosemite Park.In a word -awesome. This Memorial day weekend there are at least a few of us heading to Southern Cal and over to Las Vegas, and then on to Zion National Park. It will be a 4 night/5 day adventure.Love them roadtrips.

It was a beautiful day for a trundle in the hills.
