Hello Everybody,

I’ve been testing the new Green HDU product from Coastal Enterprises and it’s very impressive. Right from the start it looks and feels much different. The surface is very smooth. It doesn't feel like HDU. Also the color has changed, not that it matters.

Placing the old and new products side by side I made a few quick tests. It's the 15lb I'm testing but it behaves more like 18lb. The grit is gone! Yep it's nothing like the old stuff.

On the CNC, there was an apparent increase in detail which, here to fore, 15lb. wouldn’t carry.

Sandblasting: I haven’t had the chance to put it under the nozzle. It wouldn’t surprise me if it wasn’t more difficult to blast. I’ll just have to see.

Sanding: Like all HDU sanding is a snap, however due to an apparent increase in density, a heavier paper was in order. To ease the edges of my test piece, I started with P120 and quickly moved down to P100. Then back down to P220

I’m looking forward to having this new product in our shop. Did I mention less GRIT!

Their new HDU will be shipping in the spring. It will be on display at the Orlando, ISA show if you get to go. I noticed Coastal is offering free tickets if you contact them in advance. http://www.precisionboard.com

OK, Here’s A Shameless Plug:

Thanks to PB’s Kellie Miller, Dan Sawatsky and I are featured in their advertising materials this year. They’ve also been very supportative as a Letterville Sponcer. Thanks K.

Joe,

Nice of you to inform us on PB's new HDU, I just recently started using the Sign Foam 18lb because of the rave reviews i have heard about it's denseness and carvability. But have for a long time supported PB because of Kellie's involvement with Letterheads and the support PB has shown over the years at meets and on this board.

I still use the PB finishing products, you can't beat them and I look forward to the new PB and the demise of "the grit".

Well, ca-ching, ca-ching, Joe. Kellie sent me a sample a few weeks ago and it looks much better than the older versions. Like Joe said, it is much smoother and doesn't have that gritty feel.

I've been aware of this new product for a while alothough I have yet to try it. I'm in Orlando at ISA now... and can hardly wait to see the new HDU in 30 LB and 40 lb... which Kelly has with her for me.

I'll be helping Kelly set up the plane display shortly.

Over at MultiCam we are pretty much all set up and ready to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looking forward to seeing everybody here soon.

Yep they sent me a sample and it really reminds me of the Duna Corafoam which has always been superior to the PB.. Nice to see companies are listening.

Hi everyone!

Thanks for all of the nice messages. Just back from Orlando and the response to Precision Board Plus was great! It was wonderful to see a lot of people I've known for years as well as some new that I've only had a chance to talk to over the phone.

If anyone would like a sample sent of any of our products, please let me know.

Thanks again Dan for all of your help at the show and setting up da plane. Enjoy your days at Disney World! Hi to Janis.

Thanks for starting the post Joe.

Take care everyone! ~Kellie
