I have a customer looking for a way to add his signature in gold to his custom built guitars.
Any ideas? I assume there must be away to manufacture a stamp of his signature, and a method to gold leaf it?
Any info is gratly appreciated.

Seems like you could make a rubber stamp of the signature, then stamp the signature onto the guitar with gold leaf size. Once the size is tacky, lay the leaf over the size. I haven't tried it, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

My mind wanders. And that's not a good thing, 'cause it's too small to be out there alone.

There is a gold leaf size pen available that he could just sign with and then apply gold, or you could have waterslide decals made if you want a more automated method.

have a small screen burned of his signature and use that to put the size on then gild it for a couple of reasons,#1 he doesnt have to be there anytime a guitar is being painted and #2 you dont put on too heavy a layer of size that will be in all likelihood uneven and potentially have unclean edges and voids,#3 and one of the more important a huge mil thickness of clear wont be needed to cover the gold, the more clear the more potential to alter the tonality of the wood. That would give you a uniform/universal size/look to the signature on every instrument. Alot of guitars are done also with a routed out/inlay method for things like gold, silver and mother of pearl,if the bodies are being cnc cut perhaps he could look into that maybe but the screen would probably work the best for him if hes not a huge production shop

WOW!! GREAT IDEAS, I was not thinking on those lines, but as usual, putting your head together with others, always makes for more insight. I like the "Pen Idea" Any idea who would carry that?
Also like the "stamp" idea for him.
of course both of those might take me out of the loop, but thats O.K. too. I don't think he produces that many guitars but....If I help him now....Who Knows???? maybe one day his guitars will catch on and he'll remember, I helped him when he was just a "Starving Artist"
You NEVER know!
THANKS TO ALL WHO RESPONDED!!!
ANY OTHER IDEAS....keep 'um coming.
