I collect patches. Any kind. From WWII Military patches to Beer patches pulled off of hats from the Thrift Store. It all started when my grandfathers gave me their division (Army) and squadron (Army Air Corps) patches.
I started with two & now have about 450. Kinda Scary.

I carry around several pictures of dead Presidents all the time, Kelly. They aren't hard to get, but you have to earn'em; nobody gives 'em away (unless you are disabled or retired). Not all the pictures are Presidents; there's also a Secretary and an old guy who flew a kite in a thunderstorm, but they are definitely all dead.

Well, coming from Bob I knew there was something I was missing. Thanks Jerry and Cam, it makes sense now. But I really think it is morbid to put pictures of corpses on your money.
Rick, I collect digital images of old stocks, labels, signs and other "emphera". I also have a small collection of old cigar labels. I like the ornate "textual" ones. I keep thinking someday I will make them into glass pieces, but i think I ran out of time in my life about 20 years ago. So I guess I'll just dream about doing it.

I used to collect CDs but when the collection hit 1500 it was just too much to manage, ie: shuffle around to make room for other more important stuff so I got rid of them.
I had a really wicked collection of photography gear. It wasn't that I was intentionally collecting anything, it was all gear that had slowly accumulated over 20+ years of shooting. I got rid of everything that had no use in today's market, which means all I kept were lights and lenses that work with my current digital gear.
Oh yeah... 20+ years of photos.. culled them too! Pulled out the family memories and sent them to my sister because she's a sucker for a scrapbook and photo montage. She'll put them to good use. Dumped the rest in the trash. I've also dumped many of the hundreds of thousands of digital images I shot over the last 3-4 years. Just too much baggage to keep track of.
At one point I had enough car stereo equipment to stock a store. I wasn't really collecting it, but didn't want to get rid of it either because each piece had a memory attached to it from the days when I competed in AutoSound. Got rid of all that stuff too. Now I wouldn't mind having some of it back because the ol truck needs a remodel and a lot of that gear was brand spankin new, boxes never opened, stuff I either won at competitions or was given to me by manufacturers. I was overwhelmed under the shear amount of stuff though and it had to go.
It's fun collecting stuff but it's even more fun and not to mention freeing, when you break the emotional ties to that stuff and get rid of it!

I used to collect comic books (still have the collection in Mom and Dad's attic), but stopped collecting a long time ago. I kinda have a collection of Transformer toys, but they aren't worth anything since I took them all out of the packaging.

I collect Cow Parade figurines and I don't know why.
I bought one cow because i thought it was kind of neat...then somebody bought me the companion piece to that. Then somebody else gave me a couple of theirs. Next thing you know everybody assumed I was collecting them and that became the default Christmas present for a couple of years.
My mother in law had the same problem with snow globes. My former boss has a HUGE clown collection...he doesn't even like clowns.

ART, I collect art; paintings, mostly obsure artists...GUY Nez, Dixon, FW Roberts, Pacheco, Bartlett to mention a few...not a cheap hobby!!!
If I was to dig deeper, one would have to include my extension collection of automotive tools and die cast models of all sorts and styles from the early 1900's and on...
and dogs...

No, sorry, in fact I've not heard of this one, but that's not to say, he doesn't exist, obviously, lol...
I've always preferred Southwestern art, which equates to Indian arts and Pacheco is a lady on the second mesa that does lamps and bowls, very nice and in the traditional Hopi style...highly sought after...
My cast model collection took a hit recently, as most are sand cast lead, the gov't has seen fit to label such items, unsaleable by threat of law...arseholes...in their defense, this particular lead is the one that's most dangerous... .it's a series of train sets, depicting train companies of the 30's/40's....eg: Santa Fe, Southern Pacific, Union Pacific...each is represented with three different sets per, passenger train, freight train and what they call a "work" train....used to "pine" over them as a child, but were never allowed to even get close, let alone play w/them...as it turns out, that was a good thing, can you imagine me w/a learning disorder? Wait, that's a great excuse, yeah, what he said!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

I used to work for the local sign company (30 years ago) and they did all the Coka Cola work for miles around. Every gas station, restaurant, tavern, grocery store who sold the produce was given free signs.
At the time I was there, Coke redesigned their corporate image and for several years all the signs were replaced. Well this sign company would go out and re,ove all the "old" signs and replace with the "new". I remember old working neon Coke signs being tossed.
At the end of the day the crew would arrive back at the shop and literally fill the dumpster with all sorts of vintage Coke signs.
Some guys would take them home and use them for target practice!
I did manage to keep a remarkably nice steel dish shape sign with a Coke bottle screened on it. I look at it every day.

Four houses ago I was an antique fanatic. But all my stuff was displayed well and generally told a story. One collection I loved were those red and white wooden handled kitchen utinsels. I hung them up on a kitchen wall. Same with old food graters. Some stuff just lookes really cool hung up right.
Then I went through my auction phase. I loved bidding on old cool stuff. I rememeber this one antique dresser that I got for a song. Then there was that old wooden wall clock, the huge airmoire, bidding days were nerve racking but the real fun was all about you never knew what you were going to bring home that day.
The local flea market and garage sales use to be my weekly mantra. I just loved the hunt.
These days I stay away from purchases. I have a house that needs a ton of work and I don't even desire new stuff in it because the background for it isn't ready. But I'll admit my favorite pasttime lately is simply walking through Homesense and wishing my house was ready for that stuff. Once in a small while I'll treat myself to something nice and display it. I'm still an antique lover for the odd thing to display, however I can feel my decorating taste changing as my reno skills grow.

Hey Ryan, We have an Elderly Veteran here in my town who proudly protraits "Blood and Fire" on his license plate, he has some amazing stories and pictures. He was with the 63rd when they came upon German concentration camps that the Germans had walked away from and left the POW's.
I was in the 59th Ord. Brigade in Germany 1983-84, do you have one of our patches? The patch was called the "Flaming Muffdiver" You'll know why when you see it.
Having dead presidents on our money is better than having the queen, but the pound is giving us a kickin right now.
I collect sign books and old signs as well, and things to do with Studebaker because I drive one on a daily basis.

I collect 1966 vintage Dodge schoolbuses. Someone has got to be the up and coming eccentric now that many of the curmudgeons on this board are retiring!(LOL)
