MeHeadHunter, I wish I would have gotten your advice earlier. I kinda figured it out on my own that this stuff needs to be sprayed. Another question is what should I charge for something like this. I mostly just do OneShot striping and haven't done a job like this on my own before. For my regular OneShot striping I would have done this for about $80 to $100. Is my pricing off? Should I charge more for this specific job?
It came out like this...still needs to be cleared...

$80 - $100 per hour... from talking to the client.. through writing the bill.
That's what a lot of us charge, no reason you shouldn't get it. I'm no paint guy, but for me... just the clearcoat you haven't done yet would take over an hour... setting up a spray gun,. and cleaning it after.
I assume your post relates to another earlier post, but I didn't see that. Is it just the 2 pin stripes you did, or repainting the entire 2-tone fender (?), plus pinstripes?

Kelsey: Nice job. Good uniform paralells with the different colors. How did the gold behave, and what number brush did you use? I mix one shot gold with BMW gold powder (obsolete) and penetrol to extend the pull because metalics are generally shorter on a distance run compared to solid pigment paint. I use a vinyl water base clear coat over the one shot striping whenever the job is going to be cleared. No problem with lifting or wrinkling using that stuff, and use a semi gloss vinyl so you can easily see any holidays after it dries. Charge for your name, because it looks like a great job and you will build a select following if you continue to do good work like that. 50 to 75 bucks for just the stripes ready for the customer to take and have it cleared by a body shop sounds right to me. What you did is not available in computer software........

Kelsey; To answer correctly, one has to know all the facts, like already stated, how many pieces did you do? If only one, and it's really a "match" job, then the rate would be higher for one piece, if it's part of a set, then individual price should be lower, as your concern is overall price. That said, if part of a set, I get around $300+ to stripe, but if it's just the one piece, then a "match" factor comes into play and I'd charge for stripe and any steps taken to "match", color, design, etc...that price would be at least an hour, which equates here to $125+....
John, to blow your mind, acquire some Kustom Shop gold, it is simply mindblowing...you won't believe how far you can pull a line w/that stuff...totally changed my thinkn', EZ Flow(name of system from Kustom Shop) is the way to go for gold striping....the rest of their line will please you too...btw, saw panel of yours recently, kudos, very nice work...

Frank; Thanks for the compliment and the info for the gold. Don't know what panel you saw, but if it was one of my "Pin Up" ladies, it was a print from one of my 24 originals we vectorized and and are available on disc. We printed her on vinyl with our UV flatbed printer and applied the vinyl to 1/8" centra. I hand painted the supporting pin striping afterward. It's a lot of fun creating a female shape with a few sugestive lines.I've sold a few matted and framed originals to street rod guys who have found a place for them in their house. I can send you an information pack, like a press release kit, if you want. I need your mailing address, and thanks again.

Thanks guys! This was an acrylic laquer that the guy supplied himself so I more or less made that extra cost in researching the paint he supplied and the factor of matching a design. I masked and sprayed (didn't take more than an hour) just because several people I talked to said it's not worth my time trying to stripe with an acrylic laquer. I've never striped with acrylic laquer but have used it before and I know that it dries extremely quick.
I ended up just charging an even $100. Thanks for all the help
