Three shapes with some flood fills, a palm tree from their clipart, fonts that Corel includes and an easily rounded off square. Takes less that 15 minutes to make.
What's in your wallet? Rapid

Why is it so hard to get a simple answer around here these days?
We make our living by selling advertising to those that have products we all use. At this time, there are at least 2 Merchants that can supply your needs. Let's talk about them first. They have an investment here along with an interest in those that frequent this website.
The first is Vector-Art. Andrew has been a long time Merchant. Every Month he gives away a great package in our Monthly Resident Draws. You'll find him at http://www.vectorart.com
Ray mentioned CorelDraw. They also support Letterville with their advertising dollars. This program is loaded with clipart. http://www.corel.com
There are all sorts of other clipart services out there. When we had the sign shop I always tried to recommend clients that used our services first. If you know of a clipart source that could benefit from advertising in Letterville, please let them know. We all win!
As professionals, we should all have a good library of clipart. These days, it's just another valuable tool in our shops. Invest in them!
There are also all sorts of sources for free clipart out there. Try Goggle or any of the other search engines.
BTW? What is using labels like Yankee? The same can be said for terms like Republican, Democrat, or anyother religious, political, etc., etc., label. It seems innocent at first, but it has no place in Letterville. We are here as Letterheads first. Let's get back to basics and try to act in a manner that honors the real reason we gather here and at live meets.
Nuff said.

Now it is your talent and drawing!
Steven, you're not serious are you? not only is it not wise to suggest copying work that's protected under a copyright... after you "Bring it home and Vectorize It" ...how does it become "your talent and drawing!"

I dunno, Doug. It worked for Andy Warhol and Ward Churchill.
But seriously, I have to agree with Steven. I often buy books with lots of photos in the $1 pile, scan the images and vectorize and/or stylize them as needed. I don't think Steven is talking about producing exact copies and claiming it as your own work.

You've always been a good sport, Let me publicly appologize to Bart for not answering his question, to Steve for giving reason for him to step in here, and to you for poking fun.
Like I said you've always been a good sport, but sometimes things are done without thought of the other persons feelings. I was only trying to have fun with ya, sorry if it was not taken that way.
By the way I took no offense to your yankee comment. I shovel snow with pride and maybe someday you can do a step by step on how to pee up a rope
There I go again , I'm sorry I'll go to bed without desert.

I wasn't going to touch this one ... but I can't leave it !!!
I have no comments about the YanKees... I don't even like baseball !
Here's a little story : you bring your new girlfriend to a fancy restaurant for dinner, and the first item you order is the soup of the day for two at 4.95$ a bowl. The chef opens a can of Campbell soup (vegetable), adds a little water, zaps it and serves it to you. How do you feel about that?
Now, a client comes to you, thinking you're a professionnal designer because this is what you advertize. He asks for a palm tree, an apple or any other "simple" shape added to his sign and you open a "Campbell Clipart Soup CD" .... isn't that the same as the restaurant above? Aren't we expected to come up with some design skills if that's what we advertize ?
I can understand that we all need some way to find models, find inspiration and resource common items especially complicated shapes or items we are not familiar with, but some posts I've seen over the years for basic stuff is discouraging to say the least!
I think computers and ready to use cliparts, scrolls and scripts have made a lot of people lazy and affraid to use their skills (or try to better them), and it's a sad thing to see.
Then those same people complain about the competition they're getting in their own town about people who do the exact same thing they do.... Campbell Soup Signs !!!
IT'S A PALM TREE, not a 3D view of an automatic transmission...

Ah, the "new" world of art, what happened w/drawing out by hand your ideas and using them instead of copying something, someone else has done? Guess I just don't "get it".....

Frank, some of us just don't have the talent. I don't. As I see it, designers are not necessarily illustrators nor are illustrators necessarily designers.
But God bless those who are both. Otherwise I'd have no one to steal ideas from.
