My calculator went missing! Its not in Accessories, in fact its not anywhere!

On the other computer its located here: %SystemRoot%\system32\calc.exe

So, I copied the address, emailed to myself, opened the email in the computer missing the calculator.

So, I cut and past the above in the Start/Run field and it worked! The calculator opens.

How do I save it, or make a shortcut so that I don't have to do this all over when I want to use the calculator again?

Thanks in advance!

Ok your calc did not go missing your shortcut properties just got changed. So let me tell you I use the run command on my PC all I do is type "calc" into the run command and hit enter and this opens my calculator. But that is not what you asked all you need to do is copy %SystemRoot%\system32\calc.exe to you clipboard then navigate to the calculator start and then right click it. Choose properties and in the box called target paste in the above location and then it should work again.

Nothing like using a thousand dollar computer to emulate a $5.99 calculator! [Big Grin]

Hahaha, Graham it is like the microwave being used only to cook popcorn. Or the cordless phone that never goes farther than a corded phone.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

I did find out that I could right click on the desktop (in a blank area where there are no shortcut icons) then select "New / Shortcut and type "calc" into the field window and now I have it on the desktop.

I didn't figure out how to get it back into "accesories" using Steve's suggestion above, but, I guess I don't care so much now.

I just want it there when I need it...like most things, but I don't have the curiosity or ambition to "geek" this along any further! [Smile]

Thanks again, and maybe this will help some others!

Hey Dave... I hit the Windows button (between Ctl and Atl) then <R> then type 'calc' to start my calculator... normally it's the last thing I've opened so I don't even have to type the 'calc'... it's just Windows Key, <R> <Enter>...

Quicker than clearing the desktop and hunting for an icon.
