A customer wants silver leaf vinyl on his truck back window. Do I need to seal this stuff with a sealer pen, or will it be ok? It will go on the outside of the window, of course.

I would, unless you plan on "trapping" it. You know, have the outline overlap the main silver copy.

I had sign gold on my truck for 5 years before i removed it, and it was fine. And that was not sealed.

SignGold Silver Leaf is NOT recommended outdoors, it tarnishes and turns black. so depends on what brand your using, I think Calon and a few others make a silver 'leaf' foil, thats good outdoors for a few years.

Do you mean the "Silver Leaf" vinyl put out by Avery? It has a pattern in the vinyl. It also comes in a pattered gold color. I use it all the time on trucks. I haven't have one come back yet. I have jobs that have been out there for as long as 6 years. Although, the silver vinyl was on top of a colored vinyl outline. Depending on how tiny some of the letter are, I don't think you should have any problems. Just make sure you clean the glass real good and you may want to try the Rapid Tack products. I hate using Rapid Tack, but the darn stuff works.

Yes, Alicia, that is what I meant, the Silver Leaf by Avery. I will make sure I lay it on an outline too. Thank you so much for the help!

I've used the Avery before on a number of projects. We have our logo on the quarter windows on our PT. Some of the letters are maybe an inch high WITH serifs. No problems. I cookie cut all my outlines when using this stuff as the shrinkage rate is way different from regular vinyl and I've had a few issues in the past.

I love the stuff. I've used it for years and had incredible results. I have the Gold on some stuff on a truck at better than 8 years old and it still looks fantastic.

Oracal also makes it.
