I am currently using old vinyl as templates for painting on block walls. Does anyone know a slick trick for reducing the aggressiveness of vinyl adhesive? i have used talcum powder but there must be something I can more easily spray on without affecting the paint adhesion.

Thanks,

Geoff.

Wear a sweatshirt and stick it to yourself for a second.
A little lint goes a long way.

It would have to be a very large sweatshirt! I would probably run the risk of asphyxiation with the size of these sheets. Cheap hair removal I suppose. If you need hair removed.

Use Avery vinyl. It'll remove itself.

Geoff,
I'm trying to figure out a couple of things:
How large are the masks?
Are you putting the powder onto the wall and then trying to apply the vinyl to the wall?
Are the block walls painted?

I would think you'd need MORE adhesive to fill in the valleys on the block wall!

But, depending on the answers, you can try to spray a mist-coat of hair spray onto the exposed vinyl adhesive. As it dries it will create a "dry film" which will lessen the adhesive of the vinyl.
