what do you use?

We use CasMate Pro. It is a Windows 98 software that will not run on XP, etc. Amiable Scanvec will not support this product anymore and I do not like running multiple computers to run our equipment. I am looking for new CNC software to run on XP. What do you suggest? We have a Vytek 4x8 router.

TIA

We use ArtCam Pro 9 and run it on Windows XP. Grandpa Dan uses Enroute and is satisfied with it...I'm sure.

For simple v-carving and cutting out I'd check out Vectrics stuff. Looked pretty cool at the sign show. I believe they used to be developers for ArtCam.

Jerry I to have a 4'X 8' Vytek and use an older version of enroute to run it. I had to replace a voltage regulator in the machine about 3 weeks ago(machine crapped out while cutting PVC letters for another letterhead, and as figures it has never quit on me and this was a rush job) so I asked about software upgrades and was told by vytek that the newer software won't run it through a Vytek driver and Vytek doesn't make any new drivers because they don't make routers anymore just lasers.

But If I called someone at an enroute dealer near us (Vytek is only 20 min away from me) they could set me up with a new enroute and a driver from another machine that would work. I wrote the name of the company to call on a scrap near the router I will try to find it tomorrow.

Lets keep in touch on this one because upgrading is something I am interested in also.

Keep in touch.

Will the vytek run off a Standard G-Code. (.TAP) File. I know on my first router we had to save the files as Gcode in Enroute then do a conversion in the CamTec Software to there propierty code.. Was a real Pain hence never buying a CamTec Again.

Or you may look at a controller upgrade.. Joe Crumley turned me onto this company and This is what we will be doing on our old PeaShooter ShopBot (As Dan would Say)

Jake

I was in touch with North East Electronics. They have since merged with Cleveland Motion Controls in Cleveland, Ohio. They are the original manufacturer of the controller for our machines. They may be able to answer our questions about upgrading.

addy is:

I dealt with a guy named Mark when it was North East Electronics. I had to have a controller board replaces about 3 years ago. I will give him a call and see what he says.
