I decided to upgrade my Fontographer (last upgrade was 12 years ago) since version 4.7 runs on Mac OS X. I haven't touched it in years but I'm going to give it another try. I'm curious to know who else uses it. Anyone? Anyone?

Stephen, I've got a few font ideas I've been developing, so the next step is to try them out as fonts. The alphabets are in Illustrator, so I'll be importing them into Fontographer.

Russ, Most of the type designers I know (3) now use FontLab. It's supposedly more powerful than Fontographer. It's one of the programs that I'm saving for. I've been using an older version of Fontographer but now it's time to upgrade.

Fontlab is on my wish list, but the upgrade to Fontographer was only $99. The jump to Fontlab will be another $300, but it will still be cheaper than the full price.
I thought I would be more familiar with the Fontographer tools, but it appears I've forgotten a lot.

Hey Russ, I use it...I got 4.1 I think, but I'm going to upgrade to fontlab. One reason being is that one can generate opentype fonts in fontlab. Fontographer, however is so beautifully simple. I bet that once you start working in fontographer, you'll quickly pick it up again. Have fun!

If anyone is interested, I have a copy of Fontographer on the shelf that I have never used. I bought it before Illustrator became "sign friendly". You'll need and OLD Mac to run it though.
