I'm an artist/ designer in the Kansas City area trying to find anyone willing to teach the methods involved in making the old guilded pub mirrors. I'm willing to travel (if necessary) and pay what ever fees there might be. So far Sarah King at angelguilding.com has been alot of help and suggested that I get in touch with you guys on account of your openess to questions and willingness to share. She has offered alot of solutions and a seemingly self teachable approach using the angel guilding. Does anyone out there have any experience with both methods(angel guilding and gold leaf)? Do they produce the same effects? Are there limitations on one? Is one better for the pub mirror application? I'm excited to get involved in some of these new processes and techniques and appreciate any help or direction to someone who can. Thanks. Adam

Hi Adam, and welcome to Letterville. Billy Pickett will be presenting a glass gold seminar at the upcoming Dixie Letterhead meet, just outside Atlanta, GA. Several other experts will also be in attendance, so this would be a prime opportunity to pick up a lot of knowledge in a short amount of time. Kent Smith of Smith Sign Studios in Greeley, Colorado gives workshops every December, if I recall correctly. He's the man behind the book, Gold Leaf Techniques. He probably knows as much about laying Gold on glass as anyone alive.

Adam, Nooel Weber & myself are holding a 3 day Gold Leaf techniques Workshop in Boise ID. next month, that should be a lot of help to you.
