I must apologize to everyone here for my answers to questions throughout the years where my preciseness overwhelms my personality and drives others up the wall. Sometimes I just cannot help myself as I feel I'm always geared up and ready to fly, at least in my head and yet sometimes my legs won't follow. Believe me, I try to be patient but something takes over and all hell breaks loose inside this brain of mine and when I think of all the education one has in where they use such big words and yet a simple problem plummets them right into this forum. I truly believe that education and experience are opposites and though I'm no teacher bu I know I have the knowledge which can solve their problems. Others think that they can fool even the best of us into believing that they have done everything in their power to resolve something as simple as a piece of clipart or a call for help from just about any company as if this is known first hand to be the answer, rather then experiencing with the failure. Any major source of information can give a person something to go by but never the reality of doing it themselves even if a failure will occur.
This is why I must offer my apology to all of you as i believe I read through the lines and do not fully comprehend the final result of the words I had given until its too late. Education is a crazy thing that always makes me want to better my work as well as my vocabulary as least before I pass on.
The other thing that bothers me is being precise and it drives me crazy, but I overcome these obstacles by doing the best I can with the least amount of worry. I change my formulas frequently to match the materials I use and I rely on no one but myself to make things correct. I have to do it this way because the world is changing around me and the persons I come in contact with can't even give me the correct change when at a store unless they have a calculator and it drives me crazy.
So you see, I'm no different then the next guy except that I feel that I practically know more then the representatives in companies because I am one of the end users and not someone who answers questions without using the particular product in a work enviroment every freaking day.
Please accept my apologies and I promise never to change

I think "experience is an education."
For instance, your skill is based upon the experience you've accumulated over the years. You have systematically filed away techniques that yield successful results in segregation from those that didn't. This is the essence of education.
Education doesn't have to come from book smarts, or degrees.
Sometimes an education is enhanced by a willingness to take advice from those who have experienced, or determined a successful course of action - and this sometimes (often) can include manufacturers representatives. It's not bulletproof....but lab testing can prove beneficial and eliminate the need to learn from an on-the-job failure.
Your method of education seems to have worked very well for you Joe....from what I've seen, you're a very talented craftsman.

New mission ... someday before I die ... I have to sit down and smoke one with you.
Anyone who remembers Hassel Fiasco can see how nice and polite you've become in recent(er) years. Or... Did I miss a post where you went all Fiasco on somebody's ass?
I hear you about experiencing the failure ... I sometimes even enjoy it. It's nice to have the pros to provide a starting point though... and I for one appreciate it.

Emails and bbs systems are not the best communication methods so it's easy to see how others can be misinterpreted.
I agree that there is no substitute for experience. Formal learning is simply a springboard to the hard work that must follow.
I attended one meet in my brief stint on this bbs. I met many very nice people and to this day tell others of the artists and skilled people that I've met. It was a humbling experience as well as a learning experience as I saw first hand just how talented the "heads" can be.
That being said, what better place to ask questions and get real, experienced answers. This bbs and my paint questions (as well as others) saved me from a lot of heartache and one sign redo at a future date.

Joey, I love your blunt style and subtle sense of humor. Don't soften up in your old age, that'd be a bad example to us young'n's.
**hahaha.. he said... BLUNT..**

Apology considered unnecessary here, the translation of the accent as it crosses the equator coming down-under tends to mellow the effect anyway
I really appreciate your emails/posts, as well as your keenness to share your experience/s with the rest of us.
Thanks, Joey!

Joey, You are a crusty old fa*t who is about as subtle as a Marines flame thrower. Don't change anything. The hard learned info that is hidden in your grouchy posts is priceless...as is your style... As to education and experience being opposites, I have to respectfully disagree. The wisdom in your posts enlightens (educates) me. If I take that wisdom (education) and practice it till I can do it right, I get some experience. Opposites? Not in my oppinion...More like twin sisters.
