I'm sitting here scratching my head and it's not because I am an ape, but because I can't figure out your reasoning on how this would be acceptabe on this board...

Lotti, I'm NOT looking to be argumentative but what about that did you think was offensive and inappropriate? There's nothing political or religious or profane about it. Again, I'm just curious.

I can't answer your question, Kimberly without taking it into the direction that Dave didn't want it to go. But then again, if it was not controversial, why did he ask for no flaming?

That video in my opinion just reinforces what I've thought for a long time. They call it civilization. How can we call ourselves civilized when so many of our species prey on our own, kill our own, and on and on? I don't see the contoversy, other than the fact that we can't get along with ourselves. If you're looking for an argument, you can find one anywhere.

It's hard to conceive of someone naive enough to believe this video wasn't intended to be inflammatory. The self-important narrator smugly condemns the entire human population for emotions, capabilities, problems, and behaviors that are unique to the human race, and then states glibly that we are "just monkeys" in denial of our "true monkey nature". Where is the sense in that? If it is our true nature, why do 6 billion humans act on a different set of impulses?
The pseudo-intellectual ramblings remind me of Alanis Morissette's song "Ironic", which is ironically filled with examples that lack irony. It has the appearance of substance, but on closer inspection, what useful information does it deliver?
The human race does face big problems. We have the capability to destroy our world, and we are on the brink of doing so. But, telling ourselves we are monkeys, when our nature is clearly different, isn't going to bring us closer to a solution.
My mind wanders. And that's not a good thing, 'cause it's too small to be out there alone. Posts: 3129 | From: Tooele, UT | Registered: Mar 2005

I found it both humorous and somewhat thought provoking.
Since I am not a rabid political person nor an avid religious zealot, I just viewed it and enjoyed it.
OH..And I did post it as "Totally off topic".

The monkeys who made that foolish thing are so full of themselves they ended up with a video that's not funny, ironic, informative, interesting, deep...at least not to me. Sorry, if there's anything to get, I don't get it.

Reminds me of my anthropology class in college.
Our instructor told my friend and I he was agnostic (neither believed in God or disbelieved), but, Lori, my classmate always said "God Bless You" to him as she and I walked out each day.

The only arguement I can see with that film is the fact it completely ignores Creationism which is a religious theory. If you don't believe in Evolution, I could see where it might irk someone.
The rest of it though, it's not hard to see the message at all. Maybe the real irony is the people who cannot see the irony in it. Humans are supposedly superior species yet we're the ones destroying the planet we live on and killing each other by the thousands, all the while building 7,000sq ft shelters for families of four and creating this system of currency for the sole purpose of.... buying stuff. Stuff that has no bearing on our survival, it just serves to complicate our lives.

whoever thinks that his ancestors are apes is well deserving of that lineage.
the statement "some of the monkeys actually beleive the universe was created for their benefit" was pretty lame. If he can't appreciate and be grateful for the benefit we enjoy here in this universe then he should try and find another one where he would be grateful. That link was an attack on religios people, a textbook dig agaist belief in God and this thread should be closed before it turns into a debate.
