Does anybody here do these?

I am working with a building owner who needs to change the signage for the tenants at the request of the regional district. Seems the RD doesn't want to see lit cabinet signs anymore, but of course they offer no ideas as to what they would like to see.

My suggestion to the owner is channel letters, or maybe halo-lit letters. I have no experience with either. I don't have much of an idea of what they cost, but need a price to blurt out just as a starting point.

Here for an example is one of the tenants logo which I think halo would work great with.

If the sign was 6feet across, the main copy would be about 5 1/2 inches and the sub-copy about 3 1/4. Is this workable? or does it need to be bigger?

Due to a recent illness and subsequent death of someone very close to me, I have dropped the ball on this and need to have some sort of price estimate figure for tomorrow. Too late to get a quote from any local suppliers if I even knew of any.

A better way to put it might be, what kind of budget should be allowed to perfom this task. Also, I am most likely going to require an outsource for these, so any suggestions there?
What might it retail for? $5000? $10000? I just need something. Can anybody help?

Halo lit is the only way you'll do 3 1/4" letters, and that's only with LED's. Never having done back-lits, but having the basic ideas down, the final pricing is going to depend on how you finish the copy. If you dimensionally carved the tribal graphic, gilded it in aluminum leaf, mounted it to a backer for the outlines, and just used flat cut aluminum or PVC copy, you could probably fetch anywhere from $7K-11K for the display. Remember, it's not just the materials - it's putting it all together and mounting it, too!

You could absolutely halo light this @ 6' across.

Try plastic formed letters & buy the self adhesive LED's to insert in the backs. Hidden stud mount 1-1.5" away from wall & you'll create an amazing effect.

Ballpark... 2k letters & LED... 6-700 install.

Good luck & don't be scared to ask budgets! It can save you tons of time & hours of unnecessary explanation. If their budget is $1000.00 you could talk him up to $2500.00 backlit.
If the budget is $300.00 its NONLIT!

BTW- totally exterior!

I charge $16 a vertical in. for block style letters. Up to $25 a vertical in for complex letters like old english. (For Noen)

But I agree with Rick 3.5" is way to small for neon and I haven't done enough L.E.D. to help you there. The tribal alone would be at about $1500 with neon and a flat aluminum face with 4" return.

Don't know if I helped, but good luck.
