My son and his buddies had a "shindig" as they call it two weekends ago.
They put up a tent in the backyard while I got a nice little bonfire going for them to roast hotdogs and sit around the fire "hanging out."
I love sitting around a bonfire at night, mesmerized by the flames and glowing embers.
And I really love to eat a hotdog freshly roasted over an open fire.
I took this shot of the fire with a hotdog over the fire....I was surprised at how it turned out compositionally....I'm going to have it enlarged and frame it and put it on my office wall.
What is it about summer that gives you that warma nd fuzzy feeling?

I like summer weather because when travelling, people seem to be more friendly then when its cold and miserable. There are great swimming holes as well as hot springs not far and I love water

The smell of fresh-cut grass (as long as I don't have to cut it) Waking up on a hazy morning when it's still cool, and knowing that by the end of the day it's gonna be REALLY hot out. The smell of sheets after you've dried them on the clothesline. And the feel of them. The School Picnic at Kennywood. The fact that paint dries a lot faster. Being able to work in the garage without freezing! love....Jill

That warmth and glow to my skin, after having been in the sun all day. In the evening I may put on something white, or some bright colour and go out to some air conditioned restaurant, or club, and just feel as though I radiate. Gives me that "on vacation" feeling.
A refreshing dunk in a swimming pool. Ahhhhhh
A nice relax in an adirondack chair with a gin and tonic, after having cleaned up from yardwork and mowing the the lawn. Looking over my "estate", basking in the glory of my day's efforts and feeling totally spent, yet rewarded.
I love that the days are longer!
Cook outs!
Evening walks along the coastline.
Kayaking!~

Hey Todd, I have a fire pit at my house, but here in Florida, we do that bomb fire stuff in the winter months. I also love sitting around the fire being mesmerized by it, and enjoying it's warmth.
Last winter a group of us kayaked to a little island, (Dave and I borrowed a tandem) We had a bomb fire and roasted weinees. Much fun!

Having a good hard days work, hopping on the bike around 7:30, and making it back to the house around 9:00 just before it gets dark.
The last few miles feel great, the sun is going down over the Adirondacks, the air is so still that fog is settling in the valleys.
The smells of nature and the views, clear all the mind webs.
The Medowlarks, Gold Finches, and Bluebirds are singing to beat the band, and getting their last flights over the field before heading back to the nest.
You pull into the driveway and the odometer says 17 miles. Ahhhhh, a nice ride to wrap up the day.
A walk around the yard as the sun goes down with a cold Saranac Moutain Ale, contemplating tomorrows projects.
That was yesterday.
Life is so good.
Peace out, Bob

Summers are too hot, humid and miserable here to be enjoyable outdoors. Air-conditioning is nice though. My favorite time is spring and LATE fall.

I love the thunderstorms. When I lived in St Louis there were plenty of them and thought I would miss out when I moved to AZ, but along comes july and august, and the desert sky just rips open and all hell breaks loose. It's great.
Between the 5,000ft high wall of dust that roars across the desert, the 60MPH winds, the torrential rains that undermine roads, driveways and foundations, the amazing thunder, the astounding lightning displays at night and losing electricity then sitting by candle light, I can't pick a favorite aspect.. but the lightning is definitely cool.

I'm with ya, Todd. You've got to love the long days of summer and being outdoors with plenty of fresh air and sunshine. Winter sucks except for a sunny morning after a heavy snowfall when its dead quiet.
The sound of Mourning Doves in the morning with dew on the grass, dishes to pass with plenty of corn on the cob and the sound of Cicadas in the evening while sittin' on the deck with friends watchin' little people giggle when they catch lightning bugs -- PRICELESS!

Bill - Perfect!! How could I have ever forgotten the Cicadas and lightening bugs and little kids chasing around trying to catch them?!
The carnival music of ice-cream trucks.... squirt guns and laying in the grass staring up at crystal blue skies with white puffy clouds trying to figure out what animal they might resemble.

Summertime is the best. Get that streetrod out..oh yah! Those summer nights. See the origin of the word ART ROD comes from "Artist" and "Streetrod combined into ART ROD. .......I guess I felt compelled to let you all know that info. But, it is not off topic because it is all about Summer and basically good weather.
