At Russ's wise suggestion I am reopening the "Font Design Challenge" under a new name.
I really enjoyed the first post and all the information I managed to skim from it. I also was very impressed with some of the words we ended up with. A few people expressed disappointment in the fact the timing was wrong for them. Things got busy and I thought it needed a rest.
There were some great final results and some great not so final results. I have in my possession Doug Phillip's word in vector format. I'd love to have some more of the designs that I can offer as material to work with. Maybe some new type styles will come in.
I'd like to see what people come up with using these. I'll try and find Doug's image and re post it, I know his link is down and he is away for a couple of weeks, but he said anyone was welcome to it.
So, are there any others of you that have participated and don't mind sharing? I'll put them in a vault here and email them to anyone who wants them or maybe see if my son can set up a download on my site.

Kelly what are you looking for?.. Complete fonts or doodles?
New fonts... Reminds me of something funny a guy asked me in Detroit.. "where do you buy those fonts you're lettering?" I'm like WTH is he talking about? I don't think most exist we come up with.... Cool idea.... You can Email me too.... gr8bign66@yahoo.com also...

If I understand the intent, Kelly would like people to come up with a panel design that says "Letterheads", which might later be used by others for something like a glass and gold leaf project. She is hoping at least some of the entries will have lettering that isn't from an existing font. I think any entries would be nice to see, regardless of the lettering source.
My mind wanders. And that's not a good thing, 'cause it's too small to be out there alone. Posts: 3129 | From: Tooele, UT | Registered: Mar 2005

Sorry - what you guys can't read my mind? - it's an open book you know
Okay from the start....
Going back to the "Font Design Challenge" post from January, I asked for submissions of lettering which eventually ended up spelling the word "Letterheads" There were some nice designs there and some that showed some real potential, but didn't quite make the finish line.
I originally planned to take the different designs of that word and incorporate them into a second challenge...to design a panel. I think it will be fun to see what people do with each others designs.
So what I am asking for is those who posted originally and any new comers to post their word "Letterheads" here and send me a vector file that I can make available to anybody who wants to play with it. The type can be something you made from scratch or an existing font that you made some changes to.
Over the course of the next week or so can any who are willing to donate their efforts here post an image of their creation and email me a vector file. I'd sure like to see some of the ones that didn't quite make it finished as well.
I'll tell you what I'll do. If there is good response here and there are some killer designs come in, I will choose one to turn into a glass piece and again draw from the participants for a winner.
No real rules - use one of the "Letterheads" offered, create your own, use your own or someone elses, design with 2-D, 3-D, glass, airbrush in mind - whatever. Add a tag line if you wish. Show us what you came up with.
Then bring your design into real life or get a friend to do it. Maybe someone will contact you for permission to use it. Find a partner and work together - or swap. Be creative in your approach, your interpretation, your rendering.
Bring it all to the table - if it works out half as well as I think it might I'll approach one of the trade mags and see if we can get the results published. Maybe some of you will have your first work ever published in a magazine.
It is about strutting your stuff, folks. Lets see it!!!!! This place bleeds talent...If you feel like you need help - post it for critiques.
Because isn't that what this place is really about?

I'm a young newbie here, but I'll give it a shot. Did this from scratch in a few hours. It needs some tweaking (especially the "R"), and the kerning needs to be messed with. Still need to add some highlights and/or some 3-d feel to it. Help out with some input if you'de like.
