And I'm off to participate in the local Veterans Day parade....HO-JAH ! ! !
Having been invited, Scotty and I will march in today's parade, alongside other Nam vets...someone, somewhere has made this year as the one that welcomes us home(??????), never mind, no time for such thoughts, today is for those that should be here, not us.....HO-JAH

Thank you for what you did for us ALL by serving your country! You're sacrifice has not gone unnoticed. So many of us have experienced this sacrifice in varying degrees and I just wanted to tell you that we appreciate you and all our veterans here on the board and every where. Hug a vet today! And whether you agree with the war(s) or not, these guys did what their country demanded of them and gave of themselves (AND their family time) to serve for YOU! PLEASE don't let this post become a political statement! Just say...

What's really cool to me is being in a town where we actually celebrate the veterans. The entire town shuts down and every branch imaginable has members participating. It's an all day memorial/reminder.
I hope there ain't no loose hoses along the parade route!

Si, I'm not french, but I think you're "contribution" to this post is arrogant and offensive. It does not belong into this post.
Frank, my respect to you and other veterans. We are celebrating Remembrance Day here in Canada, everything shut down, cermonies even in the smallest place like our 300 people town. I just came back from laying a wreath on behalf of the business.

Lotti and George....you forget that WWi and WWII we went in and saved France! Also when the french got their butts kicked in Vit Nan, we went in there, because of them! Maybe you should take a trip to france and visit the military cemetaries and count how many vereans are buried there! Then when we needed help in fighting Saddam, they thumbed their noses at us!
How soon we forget!
It IS appropriate!

Well, it's over, hard to decipher feelings at this moment, after some soul-letting, maybe...
Thanks all, they will appreciate your thoughts and words, all of us...those that personally know me and the "White Flash" will be proud of "the hose-eater", it's like Geet sees all, heheheh...yes, there WAS a hose and it got caught on national tv...don't know if it will air, but a NBC camera was following the action for a block or two...the rear of the VVA's float had a garden hose trailing behind it(for still unknown reason) and as I detest having to leash Scotty, as he's so well mannered and ALWAYS follows my wishes; ya right...he spotted that hose and proceeded to take over the attention...he' d run after it, grab it,(remember, it's moving), and it'd roll him...first two or so times, he come right back to me and shake off, with weird look on face as if asking, is this really what I want to be doing? Then, back after the hose...he did, by end of parade, remove about two foot of it...everyone was taking pictures, no one got mad, it was great, Scotty upstaged cities welcome back parade...touche'
Now, reality, off to work, later and HO-JAH ! ! !

I keep thinking of the ones who didn't come back, and that's more of a Memorial Day thing, but I can't help it...one day a year doesn't seem enough for those who gave all. So I find myself thinking about them today too. It's so tragic when you think of what all could have been happening with each one of those lives. Life sometimes seems like a big game of chance...
Happy Vets Day guys and gals. You know who you are. You're one of the lucky ones, right ?

Rememberances and pride to my late father, and my living brother.
I have a deep gratitude to all those who fought in wars of the past . . . all those who are engaged in the present . . . and to all those who will go forth the future . . .
The 122nd came back home to our town this week. The whole town is bursting with pride and is very happy to have them home.

I was never in the Military, I tried, but failed the physical, back in "64! Every year on Verern's Day, for the past 23 years, I would go down to the local VFW and write a check for the vets to "Drink UP"! I wanted to keep it secret as to who was doing it, as I wasn't looking for any recognition, just giving my own "thank you"! Well last year, after 22 years, someone blew the whistle on me. This year I stayed for a "couple" and had a great time, talking to guys I have never met! Like some said, "once a year doesn't seem like enough". Well, I can tell you one thing. If I become President, I told my wife this and she agrees, every "direct family member", Mother, Father, Wife, Husband, Sons and Daughters of a Soldier killed in combat would be "excempt" from Federal Taxes for life!
Thanks to the VETs out there!
