Can anyone here help me with building a website? I need to be able to have a gallery, and be able to take orders over the net. I need to get this thing LIVE by the last of October.
Email me if you do that kind of thing, and lets talk!
Thanks!

by "take orders over the net" I assume you mean accept credit card payments? The other thought that comment conjures up are the interactive design-your-own-sign sites where the orders are placed with no involvement on your part untill receiving money. I doubt you mean that type, but thought you should clarify.
Also I hear web designers also toss around the same old saying... "good, fast, cheap - pick two"
am I hearing you right on choosing fast & cheap... because that would not be what I expect from you. (I know it's not april fools day )

ALRIGHT ALRIGHT!!!! I edited the title. Poor choice of words on my part. I just don't want anything elaborate, or terribly pricey for something I am doing on SPEC.
If anyone out there can assist with this, I am definitely willing to entertain any proposals, that is if I can get my boot outta my mouth.

Barry..I was, and am, no website wizard. But I tackled putting one together myself way back when. It was in the days before all the new programs that provide templates and "drag and drop" etc.
Surely, nowadays, you could put something together yourself fairly quickly and inexpensively?
One advantage of "doing it yourself" is that when you want to change something you can do it without having to rely on someone else to do it.
I have decided to make it my "winter project" to completely re-do my website.
Just something you might consider. After all, what else do you have to do on the weekends between now and the end of October????
(Edited to say...5 weekends = 10 days = 80 hours. Should be able to figure something out in that timeframe! )

I still do signs and decals but now I don't have to play the pricing game with tire kickers wanting cheap signs.
I agree it would be better to help out Don, so if he can do it I would say give it to him. If he can't take it for some reason I would be happy to help you out.

Id take it on, but Im working on two sites right now. Couldnt make the deadline in october. Lots of designers on here though. Be careful about doing it yourself, theres alot more to it than anyone thinks.

I do several websites and once you fiqure them out they are fairly easy to do. But, it took me a long time to fiqure them out. If you keep at it I am sure you can do it but, the time frame you are talking about would be pushing it a bit.

Just thought I'd put in my 2 cents... I recently tried to get someonr to build me a site, I knew exactly what I wanted. But for some reason what I got looked more like a "TATTOO SHOP site" than a sign shop. Sooo after waiting almost a year to post a site, I gave it a shot. I had already purchased "HOMESTEAD" $220. for my FRIEND to use for me. I was up and running in 1 night! Its so simple, and its the way I want it, not the way someone elses idea of what I need! (www.kellyssigns.com) It's not ALL THAT... but its up and I can add and change anything anytime!

Here's a few we've done. Not sure what you're classifying as 'moderately' priced. You have to realize that designing a web site is only half the work. The back end work is the other half. Finding a company that understands both is rare. I've built over 200 so far - but am still learning this stuff. We're much more sensitive to the needs of search engine. Any doubts on the effectiveness of the search engine - ask Rich Dombey how much work his site is bringing in....
