Ok guys... here's one for you...

I have a pair of boots, leather uppers, man-made heels. They are black... I need them to be white.

What kind of paint to use?? Am leaning towards Krylon fusion, esp for the heels... but will that stick to leather?

Or should I try just regular Krylon?

I don't have access to anything other than what I can buy in any ol' store right now.

Not particularly worried about how great they look... they just need to be white!! Why? Cuzza the party in Mazeppa Saturday night, that's why... [Razz]

Thanks!!

If this heps a little, 1-Shot sticks very well to leather, especially when airbrushed as my leather vest I done in the eighties is still in great condition.

I would use one-shot... but I don't have any. Am here in MN at my folks' place.

So it has to be something I can run to the local store and buy today.

Thanks!

Would not most any good oil based enamel work, if 1-Shot will? I wouldn't count on it for the man-made heels, though. You may have to mask off the shoes and do the heels with Fusion; then do the tops. Is this permanent or temporary?

Why Paint??? Get some white duct tape...yes, it does come in colours, and use that to colour the boots. Afterward, it's removable.

White to black would be a walk in the park but black to white might be more of a trick.
You might want to try a Mar-Hyde brand spray or brush-on. It's made for auto interiors and vinyl tops. You can find it at most auto part stores. Pep Boys has it for sure.

Be sure to get all of the wax off BEFORE you try to paint them!

Ok... well, this is what I found out...

Went and got some Krylon - regular and fusion. Cleaned the whole thing with straight rubbing alcohol.

Figured, what the heck and sprayed fusion on all of it.

The leather uppers actually took it pretty well, as well as the soles... but the layered heels didn't. I really thought the fusion would be best on those, but guess not. The paint repelled away, but not over the whole heel. Didn't quite figure that out.

Went back in and sprayed the heels with regular. That seemed to cover up what needed it. Then did a light layer over everything with matte clear. Don't know if it will make any difference, but couldn't hurt.

I have NO idea how they will wear, but at least they are white!

Now I gotta find a few more finishing touches... and will be ready for Saturday night!!

Thanks again guys!
