Sorry that I haven't been here in while. Went back to a technical position at a Holographic printing company. Anyways..... we make 2'x 2' images that are mounted on acrylic and can be tiled together to make a life size 3d image of a car. We had been using a replacable adhesive which is not very permanent and have had failures. We mount the 1/8" thick acylic tiles onto a 2" thick honeycombed aluminum. Usually a 4' x 4' (4 tiles). Postionable accuracy is critical (.25 mm) and having one shot at placement could mean failure (takes 4 days to print 1 tile.... lots of $$$$ wasted)
Just wondered if anyone can recommend and adhesive that gives a good working time, stays flat and is permanent. You can look at some videos of what we make here. Holography and photos don't mix well.

Hiya Dave, I guess it would really depend on the media you're using. How flexible is the image and how much, if any, abuse can it take? Is there a protective coating? There's a lot of other variables to take into consideration too. I feel that any type of spray or roll on adhesive may be too messy. So, shooting from the hip, I'm thinking that lamination is the only way to go. Did you consider a pressure sensitive, double sided adhesive? There are several different manufacturers and converters that sell it and it's fairly inexpensive. With a little practice and a laminator you can it it right with very little effort.
