I had been letting a real good old friend of mine use my plotter to get some work going to invest in his own equipment. While I was out of town he used it and set the pressure all the way up and cut the hell out of the teflon strip and into the actual plastic of the plotter!! Needless to say I was really ****ed off, I lost days of work trying to locate a new strip, and once I did, it still isn't cutting right. I learned my lesson, no one else ever touches my equipment now, but hopefully it isn't a $2k lesson.

Before I put a new blade on it it would skip on curves, actually as if the blade was draggin and skipping along the surface of the vinyl, screwing up constantly, making it unusable. I put a frest 45 degree blade on, and it is 99% fixed, but it still chews up curves here and there, but only once in a while. Could the heavy pressure he had it cutting at have thrown the motor or alignment out of whack?

One other thing I noticed is that sometimes, say when cutting a circle, the beginning and end point are ever so slightly off, which it never did before. The plotter is a CM-24 and is about 5 or 6 years old...

Any advice is appreciated!

the offest is out of whack. its usually a setting in the control panel somehwere. or, the blade holder is worn or damaged.

you need to see if the bearing that holds the blade is free to turn. make sure the blade holder is screwed together tightly. as for the start/finish being a little off...what program are you cuttin from? my corel 7 did that. other programs it had no problem. corel 10 doesent do it either.

I had a similar problem with my camm pro 24" awhile back. Timi form NC called and had me remove the plastic cover off front of blade cutter assembly. Find the guide cable that runs side to side to move cutter assembly side to side and make sure screw that holds the cable tight to assembly is indeed tight! fixed me right up!
