It's funny, I definitely want to see the movie but not until the crowds thin out. Having lived in Marin County, CA for 16 years probably affected my interest - I wonder if I would even care about them if I hadn't lived there.
Marin County is home to Skywalker Ranch - the seat of George Lucas' empire. Industrial Light and Magic, THX, Skywalker Sound, LucasArts, Lucas Film among his other endeavors are all based there. Later this summer, most of it will be moving to the Presidio area of San Francisco.
One of my closest friends works for George Lucas so I've been aware for many years of all of the good things that he has done for both the local community and the world at large. He's a very, very, very private man and does not care for any publicity regarding any of these things that he's done.
As a single father of three, one of his biggest concerns is education. He has donated enormous sums of money as well as set up the George Lucas Foundation for Education and founded Edutopia which helps teachers through technology.
The reason that I'm bringing this up is simply to say that were I not aware of many of these things about George Lucas as a man that I'd be likely myself to see the whole Star Wars thing as simply an out of control marketing machine attached to a mediocre sci-fi movie.

I'd rather wait for the 99 cent DVD rental at the grocery store like I usually do. I can't see spending 8 bucks to sit in a crowded room and watch 15 minutes of previews that I usually can't stand and watch 90 minutes of a movie I'm usually disappointed in. What ever happened to the cartoons anyway?

Hey, Stevo.... If'n that Pinto had 5 liter in it, I bet you might change your mind.
I am not going to see this movie. No interest what-so-ever. None. Nada. Zip. Zero.
I would much rather be watching the Brier and having a cold Labatt's... and that is the God's honest truth!

I guess I'm about the only guy in the world who loved Jar Jar. In fact I thought he was fantastic!
But then I'm told on occassion that I'm NOT normal in any sense of the word.
I'll be going to see Star Wars movie ...and probably twice.
I already have two books of "Making the movie" and the Art of Starwars... as well as of all the prequels.
I'll wait until the crowds die down though.
I don't consider myself a Star Wars junkie... its about the creative art.

So if a person saw the first one and didn't see any in between, (how many ARE there?!?) what are the chances of me knowing what's going on? How many should I quickly rent before I see the current episode in the theatre? (I did exactly this for Lord of the Rings LOL)

IF I hated Star Wars ( which I don't) I'd would much rather force myself to watch it rather than seeing Kissy's grandmother naked or sleeping with OP

I would see it if they took the time and effort to make it the same way they made the originals, instead of all the computer generated crap that so many movies are made with anymore. Don't people make things with their hands anymore?

OK, yeah being able to see the edges of the cardboard cut-outs they used for the spaceships in the battle scenes in the old movies has its charm (watch 'em again and you'll notice it), but I'll take the opening battle scene in EP3 any day!
