Anyone else have one of these plotters that cuts right?.. I can hear all you Calltechfreaks, blah, blah, blah.. You can alomst name the ones who are gonna say call tech.. they must be getting some kickbacks...
Anyone have one that works right?..
If you do I got a few questions to ask you.. Not Tech... You can bitch with friends and get results..
Now try that with tech...Hahahaha Wow now there is a great joke... Run from this plotter RUn!!!!!!...I should have listened to my brothers.. they got one down too.. Now if you folks just think I am a Newbie cryin about the gerber product... Back Off!! I Love my gerber software, I loved & missed my lil 4b ( you know too Jillbeans). Grafix avdantage was a lil' advantage at most.. Omega rox fer me...

This monster well it will go down in my history.. If you are gonna buy one..call me first.. we can talk... If you wanna double your vinyl waste buy this one..

Glenn.... thanx...Nothing now...

I was having problem with this plotter always cutting perfect closest to the blade, but as it got towards the middle of the plotter it wouldn't cut the Vinyl.. I looked at the cutting surface and it was off. We took out the cutting tool, Carved a Sharpie marker to fit in the holder.. Ran it across the cuttin surface.. Yep it was Crooked, Worn, WAY OFF.... I have tried to sand the Cutting Surface Straight... ( cobble job, Hey I was a SignPainter before a vinyl geek.. COBBLE IT!)
A Customer of mine stopped by.. We flipped the Plastic strip.. Reglued it with some Magic Windshield Adhesive, And BAM!! it's Fixed..
What I have found out is TO NEVER!!!! I Repeat NEVER! use the Auto-Cut Function on that Plotter.. It Wore out the Cutting surface. It Had too. Any Time you cut the Vinyl and the Backing you are applying to much pressure to the cutting strip. I may be Wrong in some People's opinion. But you should have been here this Morning, to see the Difference. This Plotter cuts better than it ever has..

Man I am Back!!! YeehAaa! another Vinyl Nightmare gone, Until I come back from supper...*Sobbing*

Yeah, the cutting strip does get worn out pretty quickly that way. I'm glad you were able to resolve the issue.

I ended up replacing the strip on both my Odyssey and Envision 375 after about the 3rd year of use.

Now if I can just figure out how to keep reflective vinyl from killing the blades. [Smile]

The Odyssey is an awesome plotter! My buddy has one and it's bulletproof.

I am curious about that "autocut" feature you're talking about....what is it and how is it used?

Sounds like that might be something he hasn't attempted but would be worth noting to stay away from?!

Thanks.

BulletProof...Lol So was I until 4 weeks ago when I took that backwards step off of a ladder... I did Bounce back.. But I ain't bulletproof.. ( Thanx JILL...OK NOW :0) )

Auto-cut.... Yes here it is... after you get done plotting.. ( had to run to the plotter)

Advance the vinyl about an inch.. You don't have to.. I do.. WTH I love wasting Vinyl...
Hit the left & right arrows on the keypad at the same time.
Then hit enter... AND BAM!!! you just got one step closer to having call tech.. I used to use it(autocut) all the time.. Wears out blades, Ruins the Cutting Strip... Great Invention from Gerber.. My hats off. Now if they could make that plotter run out another Foot of vinyl before it cuts.. I love Technology...

Oh yeh by the way.. The Thing does work Great now... I mean better... Don't get that excited..

Bulletproof?.. That will be next.. Do the letters.. 3 5 7 mean anything...haha... Good luck all!!!

Vinyl Geek.. I mean MadMax out!!!

Ok, so the knife cuts off the vinyl in "auto cut"....I get it.

Yes, I would never do that even knowing what it is for....it only makes sense that to cut "through" the vinyl AND backing paper, that the blade must cut into the cutting strip....so that wouldn't have been a feature I would have ever attempted.

The Olo cutter works just fine for that.

Cheers.

I've got to compare my gerber 4B plotter as one of the most dependable machines I have ever purchased in my life. Still, a larger plotter is desirable always, but money is tight.
Have to say, I think you have a beauty, especially if you like Gerber software. The Gerbers as you know, won't allow signlab or some other software to be run on them (as far as I know). It's like an exclusive country club for plotters, hmmmm, no gender intended! Ha!) Still, I had signlab long ago and never get to use it!
Good luck with your plotter, and glad you got the problem resolved!!!!!!!

Deb,

SignLab has no problem driving my Gerber Odyssey and Envision 375 plotters. I think the old Gerber console systems are the only ones that have any special needs when it comes to using other software.
