I have an Encad 750 digital printer that I printed a logo on water resistant vinyl and then laminated it before applying it to the magnet. The customer called and said that it turned white around the edges when it rained, but the color returned when dry. I tried a different approach and printed directly on a jet-mag product that accepts water-based inks. After I allowed the magnet to dry overnight, I laminated it and he says the problem is worse.

Any suggestions?

edge bleed.. a problem with digital printed stuff.

You will have to wrap the lam or over lap the lam over the edge of the magnetic until it covers the backside just a little..

Laminating aqueous inkjet prints is not enough. There is still an eposed edgethat will absorb moisture. It's physics, man!

Like the big CH said... Overlap that laminate. Do it now!

WHy Jon?,, WHy?,, He has a good printer. Just has to get some techniques that go well with that printer.

Edge has its place, And so does his encad.. Maybe he doesn't wish to be limited to just 13.5 incehs and having to panel.

BTW:

The two-word "sentences" I found myself typing made me think I sounded like a cave-man...so I added the "Ugghh" for effect.

(Just didn't want anyone to read something into that that wasn't there...)

MMM. Make customer happy now...solve printing problem later.

Also: Less labour [grunt].

Could you just use frog juice or something rather than laminate?

Would frog juice do the trick?
