Got a real "doozey" in my mail this morning!
Letter from the owner of a shopping mall that I do (a lot) of weekly business at. She is with-holding $300 outa my account to cover paint damage to one of the tenents cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Paint Damage?
Went down to check it out with the complainee. Also a "past" customer of mine! She accused me of splattering her black car with paint spots while installing signs on the roof line.
Oooops. Sorry lady, but they are NOT painted, only vinyl graphics. Your car is covered in white acrylic paint spots from either a roller or spray gun used on a windy day. Besides, it's only down the hood, roof and drivers side. How come there's none on the side facing the signs if you say you parked there anyway?
Would you believe the bitch is going to proceed to screw me and the mall management?
Got a fast e-mail off to them explaining the situation. Yet to hear back but I'm sure they are happy to be taken off the hook and pay out my $300 they owe me.
Wonder what the tenant/management climate is going to be here on in? Let the "ladies" fight it out.

Jon, Sorry to hear of your troubles. Just what you need on a Monday Morning. I once worked for a guy in Melbourne who painted a carpark with an airless spray unit..............cost him a fortune to get all the cars on the next level down clean. He was a right plonker!! Still at least it was his fault and not just someone trying to get their car cleaned up by the nearest trades person.
Hope it get sorted out quickly. Barbxx Ps at least you seem to have a good sense of humour about it!

I luv it. They got the courage to withhold the money ,, but didnt have the courtesy or courage to ask you what happened.. Sheesh,, I guess it could be easily taken as a way to beat someone out of payment.

Wyland the famous marine life artist has a great story in his book about spraying the side of a building in Oahu and the wind blowing and literally cost his insurance a million bucks, it was on the first day of the job if I remember correctly and he had to finish with no insurance as no one would insure the project after that incident.....glad we don't face that kind of pressure.

A couple of years ago i was working at a chrysler dealership when it was found out that a guy painting a commercial building with a spray gun had put a fine white overspray over most of the vehicles in the lot.... they had to detail over 60 vehicles...ouch...

John , sounds like a distrurbing, frustrating & unfair experience. A few years back i was hand lettering & airbrushing a tow truck @ their a large body shop-was recommended to the owner, but it was my first job with their company. Was almost done, the other "technicians" had complimented me & so on about how good it looked, then the "boss" strolls around the truck. Stops ,stares @ the front clip & says "You got Paint on my chrome wheels !". The workers were all around the truck also, seemed like a "tense" moment. So i said , hey, don't worry no charge ! they all busted out laughin'-even the owner. Although, I doubt this strategy will work on the Bi__h, as you named her.

Jon an easy answer to this problem is to ask for samples of the Paint on the Vehicle, and match it to the Sign substrates.... Ask her to involve her Insurance company for proof. Ask for the samples and you will involve your insurance to confirm the matches of paints.
You never know it just might be Bird Shizt!

Mall management accepted the fact I couldn't have got paint on the car when I wasn't using paint applying vinyl to existing sign boards. They even apologised!
But, as they do ahve a team of painters working in the mall, they are going to have the woman's car cleaned at their expense. Even tho the painters are only using greens and greys
Can't get an apology outa the stupid woman. She still insists it was me.
