As well as being a hipster...
Roth, was also a hypester.....
A lot of what he was famous for
was created by other people who he
would pay a little money to or just
take their ideas.
Bit of a rude ass, but likeable
sometimes.

Timing always helps and he was there at
the right time. Bless his heart!

I didn't meet Ed until later in his life when he had "mellowed" somewhat. At that time he was very gracious, but still the showman and the promoter of his "stuff". At least during the short time that I knew him he was very serious about his family and making his life count for something. During his earlier days that probably wasn't his primary aim.

I also met Mr Roth Jack... I fealt the same about first my impression..

He was at a local car show, Grand Rapids AUTORAMA. With his Cars in a booth and brushes ready to go. I went over to him, asked how much for a HAND PAINTED sign.. he told me..
I flew home to where my Lil' House of Color Candy painted panels lay waitin' for one of these magic moments...
I was talkin myself out of payin that much the whole way there.. My friends asked me Why I would pay someone to do what I can do?? Cause he's a Legend...DuH!!!

After checking back on him, 2 or 3 times ..He got it done the last day... He said Man I wish you had more of these panels,, I coulda sold this one 30 times...LOL.. He knew quality that man did..( sorry I had to go there).. Well I handed him my $150 dollars which I had earned at the show stripin Myself and walked away happy... My friends said you paid $150 for that??!!! They don't have a clue...

Well now after all these years, 1996 I believe.. I don't feel so bad that I want to sell it now... The Memories I have when I look at it, Mean Nothing.. I don't even have it displayed.. Anyone know (seriously) of a good place to sell it??? I have tons of great panels , from Less famous, But greater artists in my mind, I would NEVER part with... ROTH... He is on the Auctioning Table soon.. I was thinkin EBAY...??? Any Suggestions... I AM GOING TO SELL IT...

Oh Yeh.. what is the Panel you ask?? or DOn't Ask.. It has The Lil Rat with a hammer in his hand with the caption " Chasin that Dream" it is on a Candy Purple background, Autographed with date & has his typical lil flies buzzin around on it.. His attention to detail is quite nice.. Every lil hair and tooth on the Rat is highlighted and Shadowed.. It Is very Nice for the Roth Officianado with Expen$ive Ta$te..

Sound cold..Nah...
You had to be there... I was, and I am very sorry we lost him... I got rubbed Wrong.. I guess I will get some kind of payment for my mental anguish or something like that.
