I don't know about the rest of you, but I get so sick and tired of trying to do something online only to have to wait for the download of the "latest" version of whatever in order for something to work. I mean it worked last week or last month. WTF??????

The internet is an evolving environment, the freaks and predators are at the peak of the curve, forcing security technology for each of us to keep pace.

Sux, I will definitely agree.

time to get high speed access George? [Smile]

I do agree though, I have high speed but just the interruption of doing a download before I can continue is enough to get me frustrated when I have a specific task on my mind.

That's basically why I build websites using old software like Flash 5 and design them for 3.0 browsers - you can basically guarantee everyone is already going to have what they need to view it properly!

Not just the internet media players that bother me...

Adobe just released ver 7 of acrobat, which undoubtably will mean that I will need to upgrade not only acrobat, but will need a new version of Corel to import the 'new' pdf files. I get a lot of work from industrial clients in .pdf format, gotta go with the flow.. [Frown]

Yeah, it's 2 steps forward and 3 steps back! I'm sittin' here surrounded by electronics trying to get the buying power back I had when all I had was my 1 Shot and my brushes and I kept my work orders on a line with clothes pins. When I finished with the job, the work order was slammed on to a block of wood with a nail sticking thru it. It was low overhead and my puny brain could easily handle it all.

This goin' with the flow and keepin' up with the Joneses -- sucks!

"Planned Obsolescence" has been in English since at least 1954. MAD Magazine used it often in reference to Detroit automobiles. Some people still deny that it even exists.

I too, get aggravated with these leaches. I'm usually in a hurry to do anything anyway and this just compounds the wait. I have a cable modem, but the damn pop-ups p--- me off.

I will be glad when they pass laws to stop this crap. I am tired of these computer people invading my space and hampering our productivity.

In my experience most software works at first then sooner or later some new software messes it up.

My solution is to keep the work computers off the internet. I have a safe isolated network with a few computers on it. It doesn't need antivirus or software firewalls. Even windows 98 and slow computers work fine when the environment is stable.

For example Casmate and Photoshop 8 get their own Win98 computer (nothing else is loaded on). Signlab 7 and Photoshop share a Computer.

My second network has internet access, with zonealarm and Norton AV. This network requires daily attention.

Communication between networks only consists of artwork files transfered by flashdrive.
