One of the "siide effects" of my medication I take is...INSOMNIA or the inability to get a full nights sleep! Which in itself NOT very good for the bodys natural way of replenishing itself. YET Thomas Edison cure for this delema, was to take short naps throughout his entire life.
This man was not only one of our GREATEST inventors in his waking hours. But turned a "PROMPLEM" into a "OPPORTUNITY"
By using this same theory. I have been INSPIRED,CHALLANGED,and hopefully HELPFULL with my INPUT to this one and only website I visit!
LONG LIVE THE LETTRHEAD MOVEMENT!
Thank You Steve and Barb(any one else?)
Hope this helps

My father dealt with a whole range of medical problems over the last 19 years, he wasn't expected to make it more than two. His take on his problems was not how to return to his previous state of being, which becomes futile, but learn to adapt to the physical changes as they occured. To him it meant learn all you can, know what to expect, and be willing to adapt. This is not an easy path you travel, but share your journey with us, we'll all be the better for it. You have much to offer this world, especially to your friends on this board. Take inspiration from our resident mayor, Steve, if it was not for his physical challenges this place would not exist.
A while back you mentioned you have a 'protoge', how is that going?
Take care, and post often.

Hi Pat, Hope yer doin well. I rarely sleep more than 3 hours ata time. It's amazing what 10-15 minute naps can do for ya. My wife's brother had a liver transplant about two years ago and the turn around in his health was unbelievable. The hard thing was watching how sick he became beforehand. He was called to the hospital 3 times before the transplant was done on the fourth try. One of those trips in got so far as to have him prepped for sugery and sedated before the surgery was aborted. The emotional roller-coaster ride was tough for him.
You're a tough ole bird my friend, hang in there! BTW, you've been teachin' & mentorin' for a long time. weather you knew it or not!!

Pat, GLAD to here you are doing better and that you have such a great attitude. I have problems with sleeping, always have. I have found that if I read or watch TV, I usually nod back off. It has to be something boring though, not a GOOD show or book. I know what you mean about "expounding ideas beyond what is needed". With my teaching background, Bill & I have discussed that. He goes on and on about some process or what ever with me. I used to tell him, "Give it to me in small bites." No one want's a whole meal jammed down their throats. Give me little tidbit that I can chew on and digest and then give me some more. Everyone learns differently but if you give me TOO much, I forget what you said to begin with and then when you are done "teaching" I forgot where to start! Just one teacher to another....hope THIS helps

Hey Pat you are truly inspiring and I can't wait until you are on the list for your new organ, I am on some hardcore meds for chronic pain that also make it impossible for me to maintain a normal sleeping cycle, I stay up for about 54 hours then crash for 7-10hrs not real healthy but I have found that Ambien works well for me as long as I don't take it everyday and it doesn't leave me with that sleeping pill morning grogg....
Good luck and what you have done in and for our craft is something we should all aspire to achieve.
