Just finished this flame job on a PT cruiser. The flames aren't hard to do but the smoke effect is very tricky.

Not sure if it works on this one or not. -

Bob, I'm proud of you. It looks almost as good as Mike's flames.

LOL...I took this picture an hour ago. I was behind the guy who was towing this behind his motorhome when smoke started pouring out. Had my camera and started shooting away.

By the time the fire department showed up the car was all but molten metal. Not a good morning for him!

Bob,

Always love your work. What kind of substrate do you use for the smoke?

Thanks,
Steve

Steve, he must have talked to Slappy Hooper because he has his paint sticking to air! (...you have to read the Slappy Hooper children's book.)

Paint will in fact stick to air as long as you put down a space coat. It dries invisible and gives good mechanical adheasion at the molecular level.

Similar to 3M's micro encapsulated bubble technology. Keep in mind that at lower rarified atmospheric levels the bonding is stronger and much harder to make changes once the wind blows and cures the paint.

Bob...

You should try flaming toward the back, it would give it more forward motion. As you have it, the car appears to be going backward.

Otherwise, the realism is quite good, and I like the addition of some smoke, which is often missing from even the best flame jobs. Keep experimenting Bob, your on the right track.

Jane - I read Slappy Hooper on the internet - cute story! Perhaps Bob was a student of Slappy's [Smile]

Thanks,
Steve

There's gotta be some money to be made or lost in the insurance industry too, Bob.

(PS do the flames on the other side also point forwards, ? - nice job!)
