Great! I see no good in your leaving, and would like to think you would feel welcome here and in the chat room. So what, that there will be no more "Sign gold Chat Nights",...it doesn't mean you aren't welcome to drop by and join in with the nightly crowd who are there having fun every night.

I don't understand this thread. Steve says his policy is to try to keep the bullboard and the chat non-commercial.
Brian - are you saying that your Sign Gold chat is non-commercial? Or are you saying that Steve's policy is wrong? Or both? Or neither?
What am I missing here?

No Jack, I would never suggest that my being in the chat room, or on the bullboard is non-commercial.
Quite to the contracry in fact, it's so commercial that I pay $500.00 to be here.
That is a great value. The differences that are being aired here are in what may be my misinterpretation of what's permitted, or who is given such permissions.
Steve made a bold and nobile gesture earlier in this thread. He asked that any and all links, within a post or someone's address/signature, be eliminated, unless that link leads to a merchant who pays for merchant status. I give him multiple pats on the back for that decision. I hope he enforces it.
That's all I inquired about months ago.
When I started going into the chat room on Monday's, once a month; I cleared it with Steve first. I had his blessing, until he found out that I was being compensated for being there. That somehow changed everything.
Doctor's take a hypocratic oathe, in which they commit themselves to do whatever it takes to save and preserve human life...and yet they get paid when they're saving and preserving. Somehow, my wanting to help SignGold users and potential SignGold users, became something bad, when I started accepting money for it.
I love what I do for a living. I own a sign shop. A custom paint shop. I have a very rewarding (both mentally and financially)endorsement contract with SignGold. Several online ventures. I am truly blessed to be able to do what I love for a living...But it's what I do for a living.
I find some of the policies here to be contradictory. I, as someone who pays to be here and promote my product, am not supposed to be paid to help our end-users. Yet only those who pay to be residents, are included in the monthly drawing for products and services. It'd be interesting to see one of two things happen...nobody pays to be a resident, or everybody pays to be involved. I would support the latter.
$50.00 a year is nothing, when you look at the benefits of being a resident. Hell, it's almost too good of a value. And yet only a small percentage of the people who come here for advice, help, or support are willing to pay up. That's a shame.
There are people who aren't even residents, coming here to promote an International meet. I would think that common courtesy, if not common sense, would denote they become residents. This websight is, by far, their strongest connection to their potential attendees, and yet they don't invest 50 lousey dollars to support the vehicle that they're riding.
I'm a hard-headed New York Polock. I'm not gonna change. But I still believe that this websight can be an important part of saving what's left of the sign trade that I love so dearly. So hopefully the rules around here DO change.
I'm out of the loop. I've been pretty much banished, but if banishing me, and the company that I represent, brings to light some serious issues, and helps to get the ball rolling to solve them (like the afforementioned elimination of non-paid links), than it's all good.
Keep on keepin on.

Don't start Roy. I ordered months ago from you a dozen 42" post holes and you sent 36" ones. Code is 42" here and I am still waiting for you to rectify this as promised. Sorry to get in on this thread, but it really irks me that a non-merchant gets away with this.

Is this going to affect ordering new holes in the future? If so, I'm ordering a bakers dozen of the 2" holes and do you think if I use 4" holes i could order half as many? holey moley!!!

Since I don't do many installs, I wasn't aware of Roy's ready made post holes.
I only have a couple of questions...What sizes do they come in and what is the minimum order quantity?
Oh..I forgot..do they come in round holes only or can you get square ones too?

Kent Smith taught me how to glass gild. It was in Kansas City, 1983 and he was a god to me. I'd learned about Kent and and this thing called Letterheads thru the pages of ST Magazine.
I paid our admission to help cover expenses, but once inside, all the information was free. We all shared what info we knew, and in return we ended up receiving more than we gave. We were Brothers & Sisters Of The Brush. All equals. All in the same boat together.
Fast forward 20 years. We have some that are doing workshops for profit, but the original concept remains. I can still go to a meet, learn from Kent. The learning is still free.
That's the way Letterville started. The chat room was one of our first features. We've had some great times there. It's always been free to all. From time to time Merchants do join in. The Percell's are a good example, Roger has tried it and a few I just can't remember. We shared a bunch of secrets and had lots of laffs. Letterheads came to chat because they wanted to hangout with their peers.
When Brian started the SignGold Chat, I just assummed he was doing it for fun. I wasn't fond of going down this road, but he was Brian The Letterhead. I've known him long before SignGold and figured he was just another Letterhead using chat for fun like the rest of us.
I dropped in a few times to see what was going on. There was an occasional question, but other than that it was just the same old chat. Lots of sign talk, humour and dirty old men flirting with the ladies. It certainly wasn't a dedicated SignGold Chat. Just a fellow Letterhead having fun, poking others and answering a question if asked. It just never occured to me he was working.
It was just about a month ago, here on the BB that we learned SignGold was being charged $1800 a year so that we could enjoy Brian's company on a free chat. Commercial promotion on Letterville Chat has always been a no no. I can't recall anything like this ever happening in the past.
Yes it bothered me. No, I'm not interested in a piece of the action at any price. Brian's contract is up in July and I planned to quietly put an end to this chat deal at that time.
Many of you own a business. There has to be times you lock horns with an unhappy customer. Do they head down to the local TV station, which you also happen to own, and invite you to negotiate in front of a Worldwide audience. Am I embarressed? Nope! There's not much we don't share with our Letterhead Family anyway. Am I disappointed in Brian? You bet!
What's next? Will we see Brian as a Resident with a link to SignGold in his signature file? Tell me it isn't so.

So what Steve, what are you going to do about Frisby? Selling holes like this is ok, right? Damn near sent Rick half way down to China because of inadequate instructions.

I'm finished with this post too. Private business dealings should not discussed in a public forum. Tomorrow I will see if anything can be salvaged out of this crash.
Meanwhile, I suggest we explore the intimate details of Si's vascectomy disaster after being kidnapped from Marilyn Monroe's bedroom by aliens with huge probes. Get all your news first here at the Letterville BB.
