A pool (billiard) buddy of mine didn't show up for league play last nite...this guy hasn't missed a nite of pool in the 10 or 12 years I've known him.

He 's worked for the State for 17 years and has full benifits and retirement plan...good wages and even tho he's been recently divorced he never strayed from being absolutely dependable.

He's a likeable sort and because I missed him I asked where he was.

"IN JAIL"...He was caught with 4 lbs. of pot that he bought over the internet and had mailed to him from Britsh Columbia.

They busted him and his boss, at work no less and was charged with intent to distribute.

"What the hell was he not thnking"?

There is sure to be federal charges (because of the mail) along with local charges...I'm sure his game will suffer but to loose everything in life over such a stupid move is just inconcievable to me.

Our only conclusion is he must have been high when he made this monumental screw up.

I'm gonna miss him and his style of pool and I wish him luck ( he's gonna need it).

"What the hell was he not thinking"?

Isn't that what happened to Gilligan a few years ago?

It's amazing. I just can't imagine that ever seeming like a good idea. I wish your friend luck, but.....damn......what was he not thinking?

Sorry to hear of your friend's troubles, Monte, even though self-inflicted. Things have changed since 9-11. I've often wondered how much contraband is in the Fedex and UPS pipeline on any given day... I remember back in the early 70's it seemed like no big deal to air freight 50 lbs from fla to nc, but those were different times.

Ever notice how "Cops" programs have the best chases in the starting clips? The actual show is all domestic battery and stupid stuff like that

my favourite- two guys got caught dragging, a Mustang vs. a Camaro, because the cop was right behind them at the light...AND THEY BOTH ADMITTED THEY SAW HIM WHEN TAKING OFF. That is brutal. He shudda shot both of them right there.

Where I live the doctors are cleaning up by charging $175 for prescriptions, with which you can buy it or grow it.

I agree with the way this country is run enough to be proud of it & happy to stay... but I don't dictate where my sympathies should lie based on whatever current rulings are on the law books.

Lots of things that are legal are worse then other things that are illegal IMO. I gave up smoking herb, but I still think it should be decriminalized

I heard the only reason it was ever made illegal was way back on 1910 or so the distilleries put some pressure on their poiltician buddies to cut out the competition.

I'm with Doug- I had a friend kicked in the face repeatedly during a swarming, and the guy who did it got less than two years, but pot-smokers and tax offenders get tossed away until their 90. Sickening.

what your making referance to about HEMP being made illeagal about 1910 was....because HEMP was threatning the COTTON MONOPOLY that existed here then. HEMP for clothing can be grown faster and cheaper then cotton. doesnt take as much work to process it and it really wears as well if not better then cotton. http://www.rawganique.com/shop.htm?source=goto the stuff is really nice. as far as it being made illeagal because of it drug effect, didnt happen untill mid 30's.

I heard Dupont had their hands in some profits from synthetic rope, & got the reefer madness campaign going to protect those profits against the threat of hemp

Joe and those who want to know.

Today there are several states in the U.S. which grow industrial hemp for the clothing business as well as the coffee business and some other things I can't think of at the moment due to all the herb I've ingested throughout my life. The rules for growing industial are simple, the hemp must not have a THC level of more then 1%. This of course leaves out marijuana which has a higher THC content. The real difference lies in the fields, as marijuana is grown from female plants as the males are uprooted and tossed, if the males are left intact, they can pollinate and destroy the THC level in the female plants. These days the THC level is much higher due to the constant re-evaluation of the serious grower as there are those who take this stuff seriously.

There are around 14 states who grow hemp legally for industries, not counting medical marijuana which is a whole different ballgame [Smile]
