I imagine most of you already know this, but I just figured out how to get rid of the plastic enclosing a metal screw-on cap, like on a can of turp. Use heavy clippers to get into the edge on the top, then a chisel down the side. Voila! A regular, old-fashioned metal cap. I've never been able to figure out why they put the stupid plastic enclosure on it.

If they just added a thicker seal cushion inside, then made the threads on the can bigger, it would go on and off so much easier. Now making them childproof is necessary as we all have seen the benefits from toddlers not drinking min spts so often, but surely there is a better way to make these plastic caps, so you can pop them off with the right tool? Most are easy to do, but some are impossible.
How about Lettering Enamel in cans with screw on lids? Wouldn't that be an improvement, especially when stored upside down so the skin forms on the bottom? Maybe add a 'drip back into the can' feature like laundry detergent?

Joe...I am as old as you (opps, actually a year older and wiser!!)..I figured out the "child proof" caps several years ago.
Just use a hacksaw blade and hack off the top!!!
OR press down on the cap and turn counter clockwise???
Hope yer doing well Joe and we'll wave at you as we fly over FL on the way back to "home" in Mexico On the 19th of Sept.

For you non-vets, the vets actually do have to pay for any meds that are not for service-connected ailments, and as you get older you naturally develop all sorts of stuff that didnt start while you were in the military.
