I have to router-cut out and paint 118 polymetal letters ranging from 12"-20" high. What paint do you use and is it feasable to paint the sheets of polymetal BEFORE routing. Thanks

Around here, I would spray paint with a good enamel after cutting. Scuff the panels before cutting....makes it quicker. Then just lightly sand around the sharp edges.

Wayne I push a file around the edges. do scuff and degrease i have been using Simple Green. The degreasing is important if you are using latex. Having great results with ben moore DTM and with Sherwin Williams Superpaint.

LATEX! Outdoor satin ROCKS! Regular old Benjamin Moore is fine in our shop. jitterbug around the edging

Good question. I've done it both ways. On larger letters it doesn't make much difference but if you have lots of small letters, pre-painting is somewhat faster.
Since you have a router, if you use a down sprial O flute, I like Belin, there's no need for edge sanding. They'll come out polished.
