Although our mystery guest is only 98.3% committed to attending the October Router Magic Workshop his name plaque is 100% completed... well almost. I left the numbers off the tail of the plane so Raymond can give this mystery guest a lesson on hand lettering when he shows up. I hear that's been promised a very, very long time.
It may just be the time in Yarrow...

Those hand lettering lessons have been promised for a long, long time but it seems that the Mystery Guest always comes up with some excuse why he can't make it. Usually something to do with grandkids.
He has won all kinds of awards and does fantastic work, but he can't hand letter worth a flip.
Two goals have haunted me for years, but without success. One is to teach Harding how to hand letter and the other is to keep Dan humble. But I'm not giving up.

I dunno... since you just gave yourself a raise, I don't think I can afford you any more. Of course, Canada uses metric dollars so we might still be able swing a deal. There's going to be lots of Loonies at the workshop, maybe I can pay you with some of those.

I think we may have a tough time keeping everybody on the straight and narrow during this workshop... no wait... the curriculum is ALL about avoiding the straight and narrow... we'll be OK!!!!
I'm looking forward to a TON of laughs. Metric Tonnes that is which is more than a regular ton.
For those not familiar with our Canadian money system our one dollar coin is called a 'loonie' as there is an image of a loon on the back. Our two dollar coin is called a toonie of course! Its a currency I can understand in Yarrow...

The not quite offical and not totally a mystery guest is David Harding of course.
But I'm with you Rick... Back when I was in Winnipeg doing David Butler's workshop I tried to twist his arm to come to one of our workshops... but he is more into design work these days.... but just imagine David with a CNC at his disposal... I'd certainly love to see that!!!!

I notice some repairs riveted to the wing and stabilizer. Is that a legacy of the aborted takeoff and fence encounter of my “friend”? I don’t see any barbed wire wrapped around the prop. Has the prop been checked for tree trimming experience? Of course, yours is wiggly anyway so who would know?
Have you checked the flaps for pieces of a century plant and the underside of the wing for a dent from the top of a highway reflector? Oh wait a minute... that was another plane and a different “friend”–I was only a passenger, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

There's plenty of detail on this piece which is only evident as you look close and rotate it to look at all angles. I'm sure as the flying adventures continue to unfold we can add more too!
Is it official yet???

Since this mystery guest is riding on the same plane with Raymond (but not driving it), sharing a rent car and a room with him, he might as well register for the class. Otherwise, his function in Yarrow will be relegated to cleaning the stalls behind the miniature horses. The horses may be individually small, but collectively they make for a big job.
Raymond might start out giving verbal hand lettering lessons but will likely quickly switch to driving lessons on the road between Sea-Tac and Yarrow.

Hey, us Texas guys have to stick together. David may be the only person that understands what I'm saying.
Harding and I will be arriving Wednesday evening and leaving Monday afternoon. My flight back leaves at midnight on Monday, but David is dropping me off at the airport and spending a few more days in the Seattle area to see the sights. Since he is independently wealthy there is no rush for him to get back to Texas.
Actually, my visa from Jeanne is limited so I have to get back and make sure that she hasn't sold the house and left the country.
This is going to be fun.

I'm independently wealthy enough to spend one extra day in Seattle. I've always wanted to drive around Mt. Ranier, so that's what I plan to do on Tuesday. Of course, it'll be all socked in and I won't see a thing. I've got the midnight flight out Tuesday night. Now, if I can just sweet talk someone in my family into driving to the airport at 5:38 AM to pick me up...
Raymond and I might have to brush up on our metric heckling skills but we have to remember Dan has home field advantage. Duncan, being from north Calgary, may be more suited to the task.

Well hot dang, this is going to be one heck of git together, I tell you what! There ya go I can interpret for all y'all good ol' boys and the Canukleheads. I have Scandinavian routes, so maybe I can figure out Henry too, although your wimenfolk seem to have that pretty much under control. Between my bro Rene and I we'll make sure everything goes real smoothly, leave it in our capable hands. What could go wrong?
