Sue and I inherited some Bank shares a few years ago. Rather than take the six monthly dividend on them we rolled the profit over into additional shares a few extra at a time.
The Share Price has been rising steadly and is now over $36 !!!!!

back in 1969 when my father died, my mom got a $10k life insurance payment. wanted to know what to do with it...i told her to BUY GOLD, which she ignored and put it all in mutual funds....when she passed in 78, i got $12k from the funds....$2000 increase over 9 years....what a waste....can you imagine what 10k in gold bought then would be worth now? we just lost a good freind in an camper/p/u accident couple weeks ago. the husband was killed in the wreck. unknow to the wife, he had been buying gold and tapeing it to the underside and back sides of drawers in the camper. 3 weeks after the accident(camper was in impound)she went back to clean out her belongings....and pulled a drawer out and found a couple pieces...when she finally finished searhing she had $24k worth of GOLD...AND THAT WAS BEFORE THE $500 price!!!!!!

I'd go for the gold. I have time on my side and gold is a tangible good. It's pretty much guaranteed gold will still be around 30 years from now, can't really say that about technology.
The booze pushers are also good for young investors. Every time the market takes a crap, alcohol sales soar and with the ever-increasing population there's always demand.

Prices on leaf are far more affected by the fluctuation of currency markets, than by the bullion price of gold. Leaf is a coating - not a bulk - product, and even though its almost pure gold doesn't mean you are getting much of it in a pack. When you buy leaf, you are paying far more for the labor of beating it, than you are for the material itself.

Google or Gold, I'd still go for gold. Gold cannot be replaced and is in limited supply. New companies and their appeal come and go.
One of my customers started having packages delivered to my shop. Fed Ex needed a signature and could only deliver these packages to the address listed. Well, so I would have to lie and say I was at the customer's address when I signed, no big deal. The customer would call and ask if the packages arrived. Yep, and he would be right over. (he was seldom home,so he needed a dependable delivery spot). He opened the boxes while he was here to show me the gold coins he was buying.
I have considered doing the same, but of course, you have to research and make sure you are buying from a reputable dealer. More to learn.
This customer, and other successful customers are worth watching. They are constantly learning what to invest in at the moment and moving their money fast.

My Dad was a prospector, and a successful one, for many many years. During his lifetime, the price of gold was fixed at $20, then at $25, and finally at $32.He used to rail at the artificial ceiling, saying that if they let the market do the pricing, you would see $100 gold. Everyone laughed! Ah, Bert, I wish you could see it now. Talk about the last laugh! MUR

Not to get off the subject of Gold, but rather Money investing..I met a young kid from Cleveland Ohio while standing in line at the Airport in Athens Greece...asked him if he was from Greece because he spoke fluent Greek..he said no, he's from Cleveland, learned it from a personal tutor he hired, he's also learning Japanese, and Italian...I asked what he did for a living, he said he "Buys Money" and sells it....??
He'll take a large sum to say...Canada exchange it for more...then fly to a country where he can get even more..and so on and so on....he just "trades up"..so he says...I had a friend want me to buy Gold Bullion coins about 10 years ago...but was some kind of Pyramid scheme..I stayed clear....maybe he's making millions now, who knows....I'd rather make it with a Brush.....
