It really pays to test the water before you change boats in mid stream!
I use a lot of flurescent water based paint on our "Blackboards" everyweek. It dries waterproof in minutes.
New paint rep came in the other day with an offer of $20 discount on a 4 litre (gallon) on their product. I brought a gallon each of red and yellow because I had a big job on.
Four brand new steel 8x4 double sided "A" Frame billboards with lots of copy.
The paint seems to cover even better and flow better than my usual brand.
Vicki & I painted the 8 panels in 3 days. Great. Left out side the shed for a couple of days ... then it rained!
Disaster. The paint (yellow in paticular) soaked up the water, softened and bubbled! You could rub it off with your finger!!!!!! Where I had used my regular pink ... no problem!
Took be 20 hours to clean them off and repaint with my regular brand.
Needless to say the phone conversation ran hot with the paint company. They assure me it must have been a fulty batch and are testing. But certainly won't be getting my custom again and I will be persuing compensation for my lost time!

For legal reasons, it's best I don't name them Ian.
I don't know if it was just a faulty batch or a bad line. They haven't come back to me yet except to send a $200 credit note for the paint I purchased.
But as you know I use all the Solver lines with excelllent results. I would also use One-Shot but it more expensive because of freight costs from USA.
At least I only used a couple of litres out of the now FREE cans of paint and I see no problems using them for interior jobs
JUST IMAGINE THE MATERIAL COST IF I HAD DONE THEM IN VINYL!!!!

Well, I can speak from experience of faulty materials and compensation. Several years, I lettered about 8 police cars with Gerber Gold reflective vinyl. Somewhere in the manufacturing process, the translucent gold film that is heated and stuck to regular white reflective vinyl, failed. Needless to say, I had 8 patrol cars with failing stripes. Upon consulting with Gerber, sending the leftover scraps and whatever back to them, they identified the problem. I submitted an invoice, as requested, for the initial striping job, the removal and restriping time and materials and I was PROMPTLY reimbursed for the total amount plus free material!!!! So stick to your guns, Jon !!
