Can anyone tell me how to export to corel draw from Signlab 5. eps won't work. It will work if I simplify everything, such as no outlines or drop shadows or even some fancy shaped panels. I can't even get ai to export. It only does about half. Even after it has been converted to curves. thanks....John Arnott

Hi John,

When you say you can't get AI to export, do you mean that it just won't do it, or that it does it but doesn't import into Corel? If there is a problem where it is stopping at some point during the export, you may have a deeper problem than what I am about to say.

I've always been used to exporting in the AI format (Signlab 3.1), but I've noticed that I have problems in Signlab 5 unless I convert any text in the Signlab file to graphics. Then it works fine. So if there's text in the Signlab file, convert the text to graphics and see if it will export properly.

Other problems might be if you have bitmaps or complex gradient fills... I've never really dealt with them in Signlab, so I can't say.

I have signlab version 5.3
I just export as an eps file, then in Corel 8 or 9, I have both, I import it as a post script interpreted, the eps filter in corel is flawed but
it works fine as postscript interpreted it will import eps, or ps. Also the AI filter works fine in corel and signlab.
I hope this helps, sometimes I just copy and paste into signlab from corel, but it doesn't always work the other way.

To import SignLab 5.0 files into Corel,I found that importing as an ai works best for me. BUT...first you must ungroup everything in the SignLab .cdl file. After you ungroup the file..select it and export to an .ai, then import into Corel. Sometimes I weld the SignLab file first...that works just like ungrouping it.
Good Luck!
