Ok you guys. This is driving us nuts!! We picked up the newest member of the family Sunday morning... and we've been racking our brains since!!

I figure since there are slangs and terms in different areas that maybe someone can come up with the "THAT'S IT!!" name for our new dog!!

His registered name is Gingery's Terrapin. I will be showing him towards his Championship, as well as (hopefully!) obedience and agility, so I need something UP! Oh, and it can't sound like a command or a correction.

Considering we have Bert and Bobby... we need something with a "B". Preferably 2 syllables and easy and fun to say quickly!

I swear I have seen every pet name website on line.

He's got kinda a funky hairdo (I already thought of Bowie), looks a little like a pony, bounces around like Tigger and is general sweet and silly.

We've thought about Bernie, Bushie and Boone. But we haven't really come up with that ONE name we both really like.

I figure if you guys can come up with so many names for a shed with a bathroom... how hard can it be to name a dog?!?!! [Razz]

Thanks guys!!!

I don't have a suggestion for a name Dana but....

Please don't call him Boone...Mike has never struck me as having those traits!!!! [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Baint Brush - that's two syllables, starting with "B"! (though Pinhead seems perfect)
Brushstroke, naah

Over in Oz, "Bundy" is a popular name at times for dogs & also horses. It's the short name for Bundaberg Rum, which is distilled from molasses, in the town of Bundaberg, Qld. "Brandy" gets used too, but for females...,

Bristle?

Now let's see them get better!

"BooBoo"...two sylables and even he can spell it...or "BoBo" and even you can spell it;)

Figured it would help to have a photo - just took this one about 5 minutes ago.

Too cute, huh? [Smile]

Dana,

I believe Steve Irwins (the crocodile hunter) dog and daughter named Bindy. I like it.

I immediately thought "Ginger" though because of her real name, her color and her temperment. Does it have to be a B?

Bam Bam - like the character from The Flintstones.. sounds like a rambuncious pooch so it would fit. [Smile]

Posted by Dana Bowers (Member # 780) on :

Well, yeah, I guess it has to be a B name to fit in with the family!

Oh... and he's a HE. Being hairless, it's pretty darn easy to tell... [Roll Eyes]

Just how bouncy is he? (Berserk)

I'm now going quickly throught the dictionary: Beowolf, Bermuda, Benny, Belshazzar [Razz] Behold, Behave, Beetle, Bee-line, Bedlam (= noisy uproar), Be-bop, Beatnik, Bean-pole,

and that's just some BE words.

Hi Dana.

I think you could have alot of fun if you named him Bruce. Think of it, shouting out commands, watching your husband jump and roll out of the corner of your eye..."Sorry mom. I've gotta go. Bruce just peed on the carpet again".

Other suggestions:

How about Bobo - or Bonzo?

Too cute? How about Backlash?

Too super-villain? How about Backwash?

Too punk? How about Balderdash or Ballyhoo?

Hey - how about Barnum? (as in P.T.)

Can he mix drinks? "Hey Bartender!"

Bear-bate

Beeline

Bistro

Bones (damnit Jim – I’m a doctor, not a show dog!)

Bravo

Bruiser, Brutus

Bullseye

Brrrrrrr? ( he does look cold ) [Frown]

Buff? [Smile]

Slick? [Wink]

Bunky

Cute dog! Perfect for those couples where one is allergic to the fur of a pet and the other HAS to have pets... and for a semi-hairless he is absolutely gorgeous!

I know Boone too and there's a side of him that could appear around Halloween where he could quite probably LOOK just like "Lil'Boone" in the puppy's honor AND to get a good laugh for a great Halloween costume.

Bunky or Lil' Boone (Boonie Crasher- if he gets rambuncious. LOL)

The just popping in at Letterville and HAD to reply to this post side of the Moon

Something tells me Boone doesn't necessarily have to wait for Halloween to show up naked, scaring the crap out of the cows.

Karyn. Congrats on the Golden. I have had twoand find them to be sooooo faithful, obedient, and affectionate. My favorite was Mr. Peabody, named by my son. I hated it at first, but it grew on all of us. The female we had we simply named her Ms. Molly.

"BonBon"

Dana,

Looking at the picture, the first thing that came to mind was Nancy Sinatra wearing those fuzzy go go boots from back in the 60s...

..how about naming it "GoGo"?

Rapid

That cute fellow is a "Binger" for sure!
Don't ask me where that came from, it's just what
popped into my head when I saw the pic.

Posted by Kissymatina (Member # 2028) on :

Ya know, if it were a giant brute of a dog, he'd have to have a sissy name like Cupcake. However, being a tiny little thing, I'm gonna have to go with Brutus.

I'd be honored if you named him after my real life nickname, "Badass"

He looks like he could be if I trained him [Smile]

... and in Oz, Bindy is a prickle in the lawn. He looks a bit like a prickle... (it's also a nickname for Belinda)

I vote for your first idea...Bowie.

Once we had a racoon named Boogie, now that was a cool pet, but pretty wild.

How about "Buggerya"?
Seems to be the only thing my dog answers to these days. [Wink]

Bailey?

Batman? (lookit his hairline!)

Buddy?

Bowie seems to really suit though. The hair says it all! Adorable pup!

Now, you aren't quite there yet Dana, but when you get old like me, with all those B names, you'll go crazy trying to keep the right names to the right creature/hubby. The closer they are... good luck!!

"Bruce, SIT!" [Smile]

How about Bitmap...he ain't no bigger than a pixel! lOL

Buzzer? Bushie? Baldspot? Bingo is good!

Bonbon is my favorite for the reasons stated above LOL.

Dana, whenever I name a pet I imagine myself at the front door screaming the potential name and hoping to get the immediate attention of said critter...I've found some hard consonants work best over a distance as soft ones get lost in the wind lol.

Good luck with this, and the shows! Let us know which one you pick! Better yet which one he'll answer to lol!

OK.
Resurrection of a very old post
This dog has a fine name, and everybody now knows about it being Toby.
But, in retrospect, and looking at the boy as he is developing I think the best name would have been:
Homicide.
(I'm sorry it's a a longer name than you asked for)
Maybe Toby Homicide Bowers, sometimes there is an allowance for a middle name, arriving a bit late.
French Killer, for short.

Just call him "Bushie" .. which he is obviously NOT!

But I would be proud to be his God Father!

[Rolling On The Floor]

Posted by Dana Bowers (Member # 780) on :

Actually... Bushie was one of the names we thought about!

Homicide?? YIKES!!! Sounds a bit morbid to me.

I think we'll stick with Toby!

With a "do" like that in the show ring, he'd better be tough. How about "Binnie"?

I have loved these dogs since I first saw them.
